M11xR2 Battery Problem

I recently just noticed that my notebook will go into Hibernate (the critical battery response) even when the battery is reading a Full Charge. I also checked the LEDs on the bottom of the notebook and there are 5 LEDs lit. This happens only sometimes now but I am concerned that it will be an ongoing issue. I have unplugged the battery and checked it out and plugged it back in but the problem still persists. Has anyone else ever experienced this? Do I need a new battery from Dell?

Have you had any errors regarding the power cord? Like "This AC adapter is not the recommended one" or anything between those lines?

 

Just to be clear, you are asking me to install the A05 which says its an update for the R1, I have an R2. Just to make sure because flashing a bios can be pretty deadly.

Never any problems with the battery, its always been perfect. I've used the same outlet for 2 years. I know these Li-on batteries tend to give out faster. I do not have an active warranty but I would either, depending on Dells replacement parts or recertification for a new warranty will either pick up from them or off a certified re seller of another battery. I know they are probably expensive so I am not sure my options yet.

That BIOS is not the latest one for your machine, you can try this one for the R2 it's a Windows executable file, make sure you don't have any application open while you run it or disconnect the computer from the power while you are at it.

I can also give you the same information for the battery but before you do that you can try the article I sent, almost 70% of the time the only thing you need to do is to do the power cycle that is mentioned there.

 

Yeah I already have latest BIOS. I was just wondering why the Dell rep gave me a link to the R1 bios update when I have an R2...

Anyway thanks for the fix, I havent tried it yet as I havent got time but will definatly try it out thanks for all the help.

Followed the steps. Now my battery is unrecognizable.

 

Ok that leaves us with either, an issue with the battery or the motherboard (the jack). Why not trying one of them at the time. Get the battery and if it does not work return it and get the motherboard instead.

Also just to make sure did you flash the BIOS and do the power drain?.
