I've had my m11x for 3 days now havn't even done anything aside from browse on it, yet it's frozen up on me completely twice while sitting idle browsing.... Any idea what is causing this? I'd sure hate for this to happen while gaming...

no overclocking? try a full reformat and OS install to see if that fixes it. if not then it might be a hardware issue.

My R2 has also experienced freezing while idle browsing just like you, once or twice a week. But after update Intel and nVidia driver and do some cleaning registry etc, the freezing issue has gone.
So I think it's not a hardware issue.

Yeah It happens every 3-4 days. Would a mirror reinstall have any benefit?

This isn't just with the R3 its the R1 and R2 as well I keep reading about this happening and there is never a logical normal solution like a bad driver, RAM, or hard drive. I am staying away from Alienware computers they have too many issues with Motherboards and video cards or buggy BIOS problems. I have a M11x R1 that randomly will just lock up about once a month on average. I work on computers for a living and never see this problem out in the field from everyday consumer laptops something about these Alienwares is just buggy. When I see bad RAM or a bad hard drive its obvious with BSODs etc.... this kind of freezing these Alienwares seem to be plagued with have no explanation except fault hardware etc...Oh and its not just the M11x the M17x lines have the same kind of random video freeze problems etc.

Heres a thread I started on the same problem this is the most recent I have posted others in the past.

Because the ones that do have these hardware problems are different then any other computer I have seen buggy hardware and BIOS issues.

I've had my R3 for about a month now and haven't had a single lockup or freeze. Knock on wood.
