I don't treat my laptop bad, I may carry it around with no case a lot but hey, ts a ultra-portable so thats ok.. When i first got this the screen hinges were tight, and smooth. Its been about 2 months now and there is a large amount of play on my screen (it wiggles with no resistance). Even more it has started the dreaded creaking noise like your opening a old door. I love the laptop but I expected better quality.

So i called dell, they had me send them pictures of the system even though i told them it looks normal and has no visual defects. I guess they just want to make sure its not abused. Hopefully if all goes well they are gonna contact me back and send someone to my house to repair it. If not then i will be very upset =P.

Maybe its worth the 250$? for the 3yr warranty. I mean if it happens once it will probably do it again sometime in the future. I better pay attention to see how this guy fixes it so i can do a self repair if necessary. Something tells me the warranty is a joke. I don't know much about dell customer service or how well they honor there warranties but i'll soon find out. + its probably worth it being overclocked and all.

Overall, imo the hinges are the weakest link to the system. Still a proud owner tho!

wow we have exactly the same prob. ive had mine for almost 2 months now and at first the hinges were good, but now theres a lot of play and it makes a rattling noise when the laptop is moved with the screen open. i can live with it for now and i dont really want to go thru the hassle of calling dell and demanding a repair but the way things are going, i might have to make that call in maybe 2 more months.
