MODDED NVIDIA DRIVERS 260.89 BETA
Disclaimer: I'm just the middle man, and keep in mind this are meant for desktop cards, but have been modded for the Alienware m11x R2 users. These are also BETA drivers, so expect some problems. I'm not responsible for anything done to your system, I've warned you!
Nvidia says this driver greatly improves desktop 4xx cards performance compared to the 258.96 drivers, so if we can get a modded driver working, we may see some jumps on our 335s, including:

Here it is guys. modded to work with Optimus. I have repackage the file like I always did. So just extract it anywhere you wish and run the setup will do.
I have only done couple of test to make sure they work with my games so I cant be sure if everything would work as it should. Since these are originally meant for desktop and had no Optimus support which I add on to it so I cant be sure how stable it can be either. However it's running fine on my machine so I suppose it should be same for all the R2 fellows out there. As usual this driver dont come with any warranty of any sort. I cant be responsible if it breaks anything. So install at your own risk! Have fun testing guys....

Awesome sauce

This driver is only for the R2 correct?
If not do I just DL it from the link in the first post by djjosherie? -
R1 and R2.
R2 can still use optimus, R1 must forcibly disable the Intel GPU. -
Woohoo, Kopicha is our savior again
-
jeremyshaw,
You mean set it to discrete graphics in the BIOS right? -
-
-
Anyone notice any problems or abnormalities with this driver?
-
damn punkbuster! well might as well try this one,
i have a q?
why do the older ones work w/ pb but the newer ones do not? -
25xx series changed how something and optimus was done.

suhweett! totally repped boys!

Yes you can always disable the Intel and run discrete for R1 with Nvidia GPU. But I never explore R1 drivers before. I am not sure the exact difference in the drivers for such scenario. As far as I understand when I am modding it for R2 I have to ensure that Optimus support is there before the whole driver thing will work. So in short if Optimus support is not done correctly drivers can be installed successfully but Optimus will break totally. No games will be able to use the Nvidia GPU in such case. And R2 users do not have such option as to go discrete. If you wish to try this driver on your R1 by all means its up to you. Since I am really not sure what it brings to your machine. Hope this clarify -

This is another driver that Punkbuster does not play nice with.
I'm resigned to just stick with the crappy 189.97 drivers at this point. Otherwise I'll never play this machine.
I had 36 games installed on this machine via Steam. Since only 10 of those wouldn't work with 189 and most did, including the two new games I bought - Darksiders and Front Mission Evolved (which was a nice sigh of relief). Since I plan to play Medal of Honor it looks like it's 189 for me until it gets fixed or there's a game that I have to play that needs an updated driver.
Hopefully the rumors of a fix in 30-60 days are true. If not, Optimus is a bust for Nvidia.
Thanks for the work though Kopicha. We wouldn't have any drivers at all without you. -
).
I've tried, from the "Sony Z Optimus" thread, the drivers from pg 32 on my m11x r1. Optimus works, just the nVidia GPU doesn't power all the way down (confirmed with power draw stats from batteybar pro) when not in use. It's fun, to say the least.
I used to think switchable GFx was a nice "hard switch" function. But after using it for about 2 weeks, it's not so awesome, anymore. Too much annoyance from using it, and I already removed most blocking apps. ASAP, I'm making the jump to a M11x R2. -
sorry to hear that... i had BFBC2 as well. But after so many games that releases and some really do need the newer drivers I have already gave up on BFBC2 and move on with newer drivers and "hopefully" a real fix will come by soon enough. Since I have another game that I could not play due to nProtect which has similar issue of being kick out of the game just like Punkbuster. But I think I just have to live with it for the time being while giving myself time to focus on other games and hopefully by time I am done with other stuffs I can go back to what I have missed.... -
But beware if you are PunkBuster "fan"as you will be Bustered! lol
-
lol
As long as SC2 works, I am fine.(second reason behind why I want the R2 - faster CPU).
-
I think unclewebb have already sheer us with some light! at least there is something that is working for i5 and i7 now
-
Hmmm...... I'm waiting for some epoxy and TIM, lol. I have a bit of work to do on my R1 before I make the jump to the R2 (I cannot go off letting somebody buy a ticking timebomb.... gotta give them a flak jacket, first).
-
Nice work!!
-
spam the nvidia optimus forums... maybe they will answer the call to fix the Punkbuster issue since those Punks don't have a discussion board.
-
oh christ, PBisnt fixed? then i guess i'll have to revert to 189 for MOH
