World of Warcraft - English (NA) Forums -> Water not visible past fair
Here is another thread with my problem and i am wondering if any other m11x wow players have this issue or if they don't. Also are you guys able to run the game in dx11 mode without a crash on start up?

I am worried it's not a software problem but an incompatibility with optimus and the game seeing intel igp instead of the nvidia card and makes the game act differently.

    Thanks

I have the same water not showing up issue and have resolved to just run at “fair” until a fix is found. From a quick google when the patch first came out I thought it was a wider issue that many others were seeing.

I didn’t even know there was a dx11 mode, didn’t see that or even know to try it so I can’t help with that.

The water issue most people encountered was caused by addons that changed the size of the view or something like that.
Here is a quote from a blue post on dx11.

"d3d11 should be in. You can always check by adding SET gxapi "d3d11" into your config. file, start the game, close it and check the World of Warcraft\Logs\gx.log file. If it says you have Shader Model 4 components or higher, it's in. "

Just to chime in, I also have this problem, and haven't resolved it yet.

PS. Tried manually setting to dx11. Crashes on launch with same error, just like you.

Well it sounds like it is an optimus problem then =/

Uhm a very noob observation, but the 335m gt is only a dx10 card. But your problem could be just driver related. Have you updated your directx maybe? Just a suggestion; sorta stabbing in the dark. :)

I'm aware it's a DX10 part. Some people reported that forcing dx11 solved the problem for them, but it wasn't clear whether or not they required a dx11 card for that to work. It's pretty clear from the evidence that you do.

I'm not concerned at all about the crash to be honest, I am concerned about the graphical artifacts though. I'm using stock drivers (257.30) but before I start playing around with updating them, I want to make sure that m11x owners with more recent drivers don't observe the same problem.

I think you are mostly correct but a DX10 card is able to run in DX11 mode at a lower shader level afaik.

edit: Anyone who want's this fixed should post in the thread linked above. It is probably blizzard who will be the one fixing it so the more people who complain the more likely they are to take it seriously since optimus is in very few notebooks so far.

I've got 260.63 for about a month now and also have the problem so updating to that series won't help you.

Had same sort of problem, Good & Ultra settings whould just populate a portion of the top part of the screen but not fill to the edges of the pool/lake, lowere half of the screen whould show torn scraps of blue where water should be. changing Multi samples did'nt help though.

Have managed to fix this problem on my Pc.
Download a regestry cleaner IE: Ccleaner or advanced system care.
Uninstall Gpu divers, In my case it was Nvidia (also uninstalled Nforce drivers).
Run Registry cleaner and fix all.
Restart then re-install Gpu drivers. (do Nforce first tho if you uninstalled them to).

If you have IZ3D drivers instaled remove them aswell due to the DirectX hookup. (you will know what I 'm talking about if you have these).

    Good luck.
PS: I tryed full game reinstall before doing this and it fixed NOTHING.!!!
