If you want it to boot from USB I think you can change your boot options in the BIOs.

ya , but atm i inserted an external hardrive to my m11x and windows asked me if i want to back/boot with this external hardrive so i pressed on "yes" . im asuming that once i switch the m11x's hardrive with an ssd and boot from the usb with the image i made from windows back/boot , it will run everything automaticaly and make my computer just as it was before i switched hardrives ?

I know, it seems ridiculous right?! They should have just provided a bootable USB with the laptop and it would have made reinstalling so much more convenient.

This is the guide that I used to create a bootable USB to reinstall Windows on my SSD. You need an external disk drive to create the bootable USB initially and there may be other methods out there that bypass this but it worked well for me. Good luck!

    My choice would be this:

    1. download the Windows 7 (SP1 included ;)) version that you currently have a licence for with your laptop from here (clean and no extra useless stuff) :
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/win...-digitalriver-windows-7-sp1-13-languages.html

    2. download Microsoft's Windows 7 USB/DVD Tool and follow their steps to make a bootable USB key with the previously downloaded clean .iso here:
    Microsoft Store Online

    3. follow this guide when you want to install:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/ali...er-install-order-guide-alienware-systems.html

    4. you might want to:

    Cheers

The greatest "boot from USB" tool ever: YUMI.
    http://www.pendrivelinux.com/yumi-multiboot-usb-creator/

Not only does it let you boot a Win7 install, but many other OSs all from the same drive.

I use this religiously as the official Microsoft Win7 bootable flash drive program never seemed to work for me.
