I installed windows using the alienware disc as my os somehow got corrupted. I installed windows fine, and all the drivers fine ( it was a pita), however now when I plug it up to my bigscreen tv nothing happens. I wont detect the new monitor and the tv gets no signal. Whats goin on? did i forget somethin or is teh hdmi out defective?

make sure you have your 335M enabled...i don't think the integrated graphics will let you output to HDMI.

Try having the computer boot up without the cord attached the TV and plug it in after its fully booted up. (This happens to me a lot, it boots up one screen either TV or notebook)

Also make sure in the 'Screen Resolution', the display is actually detected, and also the proper dimensions for display

For example my TV native resolution is 1366x768 but doesnt display anything unless my resolution is set to 1360x768 - strange but I deal with the 6 missing pixels...

I don't want to sound patronizing but have you tried the obvious? Fn+F1?

for some reason i had this problem, when you install the nvidia driver it installs the graphics + hd audio or something.

i installed this one at a time and it fixed my hdmi problem

    and i don't use fn+f1 i use windows key + P

So you're saying installing nVIDIA HD Audio driver solves the issue?

That doesn't seem right since I thought you need a nVIDIA mobo for that to even work and doesn't the M11x have Realtek HD?

When I install the nvida HD audio driver. It hangs my system at boot up. I always wonder what that driver is for...

no no, for some reason when I installed both of it at the same time, it didn't work...

So I installed one at a time, just unchecked the audio, installed the graphics, rebooted, then did the opposite and rebooted.

    then my HDMI worked perfectly.

    just sayin' from my experience.

The HD Audio Driver is for passing sound over HDMI when you are using the GT 335m to power a 2nd display
