my one week old m11x hinges already gave up on me as you can see.

called the alienware rep and said that they're sending a tech to come down to fix it...sighhh I guess its better that it broke now rather than later.

Did you try snapping the two halves back together? See if it stays secure that way. I had this same problem with the casing around the hinge and the tech said that it's not really a hinge issue, but replaced my screen anyways (with the new design).
-
Mine took 8 months. Replaced with the 'updated' part. We'll see how long that lasts lol.
-
My non-updated replacement has lasted almost 8 months now, I guess not all of them are bad.

I had to send pictures to the AW representative I talked to... he called back today and said that on monday the technician will call me and come to fix my hinge.
-
Is that an r3? That should already have the new design.
-
It's an r1 my good sir, but when I type my service tag into the dell support site it shows up as an r3 (with an su7300) 0_0 . Idunno lol.

and plus I should add that my screen right now has one dead pixel on the bottom left corner, and for dell to replace my screen because of a dead pixel minimum is three.
So I guess getting the whole screen assembly change is a good thing
kinda dissapointed though the machines only 2 weeks old and I've been babying the thing since it came out of the box.
one week, one hinge...
