Hello,
i am experiencing heavy performance problems with my M11xR3..
I have an i5 / 1gb 540m laptop.. i upgraded the ram to 8 gb and put a SSD into it..
i'm not sure if i had the same fps issues i have now in the beginning, but now i can't really play diablo 3, even in lowest settings fps start dropping to below 10 in any bigger fight.. even in League of legends my fps drops regularly to around 15-20..
I run windows 7 and updated drivers just recently ( didnt help though.. )
Anybody got ideas what could be the cause of said problems..?
Appreciate any help![]()
In case you need any logs with system information plz tell me which one i should run^^

You're absolutely sure it's using the 540M and not the integrated GPU? I know Diablo 3 won't run on the R1's integrated chip, not sure about the R3's.
-
I'm pretty sure it is the 540 m running.. i checked that a couple of times now (at least i have made sure the settings for d3 are set to the 540 m)
also i think the integrated graphics wouldnt even manage those 30 fps i get in base -
How hot does it get? I know that mine gets pretty hot and when it heats up the games start slowing down.
-
i noticed yesterday that it does indeed get pretty hot after a while but even when i just start playing the fps are not significantly higher

I'm thinking along the same lines as Rishwin. Do you know if it's using the 540M or 3000 HD?
-
well i have set the nvidia settings to use the 540m and normally if a game/application uses the HD 3000 (or i'm in energy saving mode) there's a symbol for the integrated graphics being in use in the bottom right.. and that's not the case when i'm running D3/ LoL

It is easy to check this just go into the Nvidia control panel and application control and make sure the Diablo 3 executable is set to Nvidia GPU and not integrated.
Also make sure you have your power settings set to performance and that your CPU is set to 100% for min and max and not 5% min 100% max as that can cause it to slow down and not engage the turbo all the time when in performance mode.
Lastly as mentioned above check you temps run the HWINFO sensors and run a game and see if you are going above 90oC, I did some testing and my CPU and GPU both throttle once they hit 95oC and then it bounces off 100oC with these models.
If they are high use compressed air in the vents to clear out the dust which will be causing the overheating. -
In NvidiaCP go Desktop (at the top) > Display GPU activity Icon
That way it's extremely easy to tell which GPU is being used - if the icon is grey it's integrated, if it's green it's using the 540M. -
thanks for the input! I'll try it out later today when i get back home!
