so i had an idea, i was reading that the game dead island gets a 20% performance increase when playing on XP (ill see if i can provide a link on the tests later) Well anyways everyone knows that its pretty common knowledge that all games run better on XP, but XP lacks the ability to use directx11(to my knowledge) well since the 335m gpu in the R1/2 doesnt even use directx11. If we ran our games so that their compatibility is for the XP OS (right click>properties>etc) wouldnt that give us a few xtra frame rates? idk if this is true. I tried it out on dead island, but i didnt have enough time to get in depth in testing framerates. But it did seem like it was performing slightly better. Could anyone bring some light on this idea?

SOME games perform better. These days most releases (BF3, Just Cause 2 to name a few) are starting to be released as Win7 only titles. You can see it more and more as XP is slowly being phased out of the market (source: Windows XP turns 10, enjoys its golden years and slow transition into retirement -- Engadget.)

Just my 2 cents that win7 -> xp isn't just for the DX11. It also loses some things also. Drivers and such would be impacted. I never followed XP threads for this computer but I'd imagine some need to be modded?

At this point I am running on coffee so my answers could be completely false.

Windows 7 runs better in most cases than XP does. You just need to know how to optimize it.

You can try out gamebooster 3, just google it. It helps a good amount other people might beg to differ but I've seen some minor performance increases.

UPDATE: So here is the link where i found out that Dead Island island performs 20% faster on XP
    Dead Island Benchmark - BenchmarK3D

So i did a little testing, and i set the compatibility for the .exe to windows xp, and i did notice a significant noticeable increase in performance. before my fps would be 23-45 but now im reaching around 35-60. ive never see it drop into the twenties.

My conclusion is that for the game dead island, the games engine was just built to run better on XP, it seemed like an easy and quick solution to get those extra framerates. Its true that different games will either perform better or worse. so i guess maybe try it out on different games
