I was playing with the power settings and I was wondering which is better active or passive cooling.. I went from passive to active and my temps went up.. I was also listening to the fan on my Wifes R1 and it seems to spin alot higher then my R2.. is there a better fan for replacement..
my temps seem to get in to the mid 70s c and I am only 152 on the cpu and 540 on the GPU

Are you using the latest bios? I think one of the later bios made the fan more active, good for temps, bad for your ears.

As far as fan replacement, I don't think you will find a better one that will fit easily. If your really concerned about temps, reapplying the thermal paste would be better, but its a lot of work.

Yea I did the thermal paste with diamond ic 24 kt. Worked great but now with a bit more over clocked. And now it's getting hotter. I found this program that let's me ramp the fan all the way up but I wish I could have found a way to get msi afterburner to move the fan based on temp so I don't have to mess with it but it doesn't allow for fan control.

Do you know exactly what Bios to use to make the fans less active? I get kinda annoyed when the fans kick in, in middle of class when the temps are fine, running the latest bios atm.
