    Hello!

I just got an M11X for work, and would like to set a hard drive password on it. I don't see a way to do that in the BIOS, and was wondering if people had any experiences with other tools to do so, perhaps one of the Alien* bits that came with it?

If I do manage to set a password on the drive, will the Alienware BIOS let me enter it at boot? That's the part that makes me nervous about just experimenting, to be honest.

Thanks for any tips you can offer.

Well there is a BIOS password, but I believe it only keeps people from entering/changing the bios.

I don't know of any other thing that is default with the system to set this up, but you can use a program like Truecrypt to encrypt the drive and require a password to boot/access. Good free-ware tool, and sounds like it will accomplish what you want, but it is a little different than asked for.
