For general use, would it be proper to tilt my m11x to allow more air to get to the grills on the bottom? Or is the little air space provided by the tiny rubber grips enough?
Or to keep things simpler, should I just stick my own bigger rubber grips onto the bottom?
Or is their no need for any of this?

    CPU temps:
With fan kicking in at 54 degrees C
General Use elevated(1/2 inch in back) low: 42 degrees C Fans turn off and temp climbs. Repeats.
General Use flat low: 44 degrees C Fans stay on and temp hover around 47.

    Just a little personal observation.

When I'm gaming I run the power cord underneath along the back edge. It's worth 2-4C - about what you get with a notebook cooler.

    No need.

If your laptop starts locking up or shutting down because of overheating, then I would consider it. But the laptop was designed to be used on a flat surface without any additional cooling needed.

if hard surfaces you should be just fine... but that said I keep a little notebook cooler that I use. Works well inverted and can use on lap comfortably. Dont bother with the fans.

I also keep a small notebook cooler and have never had problems with overheating.

A CD Wallet will do fine as well (especially if you are using an external keyboard) - it never hurts to elevate the back of a laptop while gaming. Increased free air flow works. :)

Before I got my Notepal U1 I was using a regular CD case to elevate the back of the laptop slightly.

I've always propped it up unless I was browsing or streaming video. When I found out about the temperature inside a laptop I went out and bought a cooling pad. I've noticed it definitely helps performance wise (on my old Dell laptop at least). For instance, a game would run at 50-52C without the pad and with it, it would run 42-45C.

I'd recommend this if you're going for a cooling pad. I haven't used one with the M11x as just propping it up works very well. On my previous laptop it worked like a charm and it felt like there was an AC unit on my lap.
