    Ok.

i have been playing skyrim on my 360 but the loading times have finally made me quit and convert the save and move it over to my m11x. The game runs silky smooth at medium high and looks a damn sight better than it did on the xbox and the load times are seriously about 10 times faster. it is outputted to my high def tv although i have set the output to the same as the m11xs resolution rather than full high def.

now i am interested in modding the game... some mods i am interested in is glowing pore veins, a mod that will make the game more difficult (as i am level 71 and i have had to balance the game by using no fortify smithing potions or apparal when i improve weapons and armour cap my magic resistance to 45 per cent and wear a mix of heavy and light armour otherwise it is just boring as i am nearly unkillable), a house mod and a mod that allows me to map the 360s dpad properly with say 8 different weeapons or spells or potions etc and maybe a few more. i may even throw in a mod that gives me better looking armour some better skyrim sounds and maybe even some visual effects but nothing too demanding.

    anyways question is this...

will these run ok? is anybody playing this/ has played it with mods? does the m11x r1 cope with this? i am especially interested a decent house mod and the pise mod to make the game more balanced and if only those two run ok then i will be a happy chappy but obviously the more the merrier.

if you know please let me know as i would like to know beforehand if i am wasting my time and should simply stick to vanilla.

I have the crappiest version of the R1 and I can report that the game still runs smoothly after installing mods from the Steam Workshop. While I have only a few mods: difficulty, convert dragon souls to perk, house mod and new weapons; these mods run smoothly. I don't see why you shouldn't at least try given the fact that you have already converted your save and most mods are free.

    cheers lads.

yes sorry about the typo... didnt mean to make you go searching there. maybe after watching that vid i will give the ore/ pore mod a miss. i do like the fauna and skrim night mod though and will more than likely give them a bash. guess i need to head over to nexus and download the mod manager and then check out some other mods and hell just keep testing the game to make sure it runs as well as it does now.

didnt think much of some of the other mods in the video though i mean some didnt even look to me like they had changed anything at all the face mod in particular. and at 1366 res i think it looks pretty enough as it is.

have to say i have been so impressed with the m11xs handling of the game so far. it makes me think i must have been mad to carry on for so long on my 360. night and day it is night and day. however i aint a gfx fanatic and dont really care about that sort of stuff but the loading times were shocking on the 360 and even just saving a game could take upwards of 20 seconds even more.

so that and the fact i can use mods forced me to look for a solution as i didnt fancy starting again. thankfully i found the solution and fairy mod land awaits.

final question... has anyone tried playing it at 1080? i am guessing it wont run so well if at all?

I have many mods installed and some that you would imagine would be gpu/cpu intensive however I have not seen a drop in performance at all. Given I have an r3 over your R1 but I'd imagine it will be the same for you, just as smooth and much much better!

Most mods won't affect performance (unless it is a huge texture pack or something). It is adding to the game, but it is same game in essence. My m11x R1 did a decent job with skyrim but I do not miss it with my m15x :D

I will say though, the load times on the consoles are way too long, I can not believe they shipped the game out with that problem. I don't mind glitches/bugs, but 10 minute wait times ruin it. Thank god I have a SSD and no more consoles :D

well thanks again for all the tips and for that link. i am going to have a good read ofstep today. i have also been going through the nexus and i have found a mod for the dpad controller and a fair few others that i will be installing later today that sound like they will be right up my street. didnt realise that mods wouldnt really have an impact on the laptops ability to run the game but i suppose that if they arent gfx heavy ones then there is no reason they would.

have to say that i never had a ten minute wait time on the 360. that sounds to me like the over exaggeration of a pc gamer or some sort of corrupted save. the longest i would have waited is about 45 seconds maybe maybe a full minute seconds but then again i never timed it. bottom line is even that was doing me in especially after playing on the m11x and the wait time is reduced to about 5 seconds.

anyways all is well and i have even had the chance to remove quest items and complete bugged quests thanks to the use of console commands. all good.

On my Xbox 360 slim, I have had load times up to about 12~ minutes sometimes (save file was huge, had 250+ hours on the save alone and I did time it on my phone as I thought I was going crazy) within the first two months of release, they may have patched it up by now though. A lot of PS3 users had long load times as well, if you google you will see :D

Took me about 8 hours to go through STEP and download/installing the mods.. But the result is definitely worth it! Have fun!!
