title pretty much says it all.
my month old m11x randomly experiences several (albeit random) BSODs of this particular variety "A clock interrupt was not received on a secondary processor" when the factory OC is enabled in bios. This error message would seem to suggest that the OC is unstable (?!)
completely stable @ 1.3GHz but apparently not at 1.6GHz/1.73Ghz.
thought at first that it could be a driver and/or rainmeter issue but have now concluded it is most definitely the factory OC that is the source of the problem.
running A05 bios; Win7 64 bit.
any help/further insight would be appreciated.
Should i perhaps downgrade to an earlier bios iteration? If so, any suggestions as to what is the best alternative?
thanks![]()

Do you havw waranty? I would call dell and see if they can replace the motherboard.

Some M11x laptops aren't stable with the overclock option on. It's all luck of the draw.

Yes, as Mr. I has m11x said, some laptops are just bleh with any overclocks, for a great example, my laptop won't stay overclocked above 162 MHZ unless I have my GPU overclocked, however if I overclock my GPU while the CPU is overclocked to 162, then it's completely unstable and almost instantly blue screens. Technology is a wonderful thing isn't it?
I'd say just send it back to dell stating your issue and you should get a replacement, who knows, maybe you'll even get a BETTER laptop back! -

thanks for the info.
yeah my search-fu was a little weak because after choosing some more appropriate keywords, I managed to find several threads regarding this issue.
well, I've get in touch with Dell and see what they have to say about it.
cheers. -
so just been on the phone to Dell,
after a little verbal sparring with the CS rep, I had to concede defeat; he basically said that a). he had to seek approval from his superiors and the fact that b). only the OC issue was the sole issue wasnt a good enough basis for mobo replacement and/or upgrade to R2/R3 (cheeky, i know).
I cited the numerous facts (surrounding this issue and that the only viable solution to overcome this problem is by voiding warranty) that I have gleamed from these forums in my arguement too.
so therefore wondering how you guys managed to overcome these hurdles when you spoke to DELL about the same issue?!

Initially there was no disclaimer on the OC so warranties were claimed to get OCable CPUs. I was able to do so also.
Now they will not treat this as a defect and not covering under warranty - at least by default. You can try your luck though.
stock OC causes BSODs....eh?!
