    Got a strange one here...when I plug into the DVI or HDMI port and..my wifi stops working,(external monitor image looks great) plug into the VGA port and wifi works fine(external monitor image looks like vga). I have done a fresh install with all the current drivers and still have the same issue. I cant imagine wth is going on here.

    Thanks!

    What the heck? Well this doesn't happen to me. Have you physically removed the card and reseated it? Have you called Alienware? What did they say?

    That would/could be the case if it was the Ethernet port, as you can configure WiFi to 'disengage' if a LAN connection is detected.

    I'm guessing you mean DisplayPort/HDMI and not DVI.

    May have been a bit more interesting if it was an M11xR3 doing it, cause HDMI 1.4(a) standards do support a 100MB Ethernet Channel.

    But M11xR1 and M11xR2 just support HDMI 1.3 and definitely no Ethernet.

    Your M11xR1 is getting it's wires crossed. :D

    I have WiFi delegate to Ethernet and when I use HDMI I've not had the WiFi stop.

    Update - It's a REALLY long shot, but if you have WiFi "Disable Upon Wired Connect" enabled, try disabling it. I'd be REALLY worried if this fixed anything related to HDMI/DisplayPort (both digital ports, VGA is analogue) as the WiFi should not be impacted by HDMI or DispalyPort.

    Oh and it's not something to do with power consumption? You do have AC power plugged in and have WiFi power settings so it can't be disabled and etc.

    Note to self - Give Dell a wedgie if they don't give us HDMI Ethernet channel in next release of M11x. :rolleyes:

    Thanks for the responses folks!

    @Descalzo Yup reseated the card, Dell wants me to reup my warranty :)
    @DRGood AC is plugged in, and I did mean display port with a dvi adapter plugged in
    @MasivB fix didn't do it.
    Some things have changed though. The "Dispay" port works as long as the Lid is up. Close the lid and watch the pings begin to fail. Raise the lid it picks back up. HDMI port with DVI adapter fails on lid up fails on lid down.

    You said something about "lid is up"

    My wifi shuts off when I close the lid, even if I have it set to "do nothing" when I close the lid.
