    swapping and cloning hardrives

    hey guys. trying to figured this out and searching the threads arent really producing. i just recieved a momentus 500gb xt. the ssd hybrid. well i plug it in a dock and plug it up to the m11x and i clone the hardrive using driveimage mxl. well when i swap the drives out the comp is saying no os is installed. what are you guys using to clone and what is the process?

    You have to make the hard drive clone bootable. I think you can use the DISKPART utility to do this, or you could go into the Disk Utility and mark the new drive's partition as Active/Primary. Perhaps somebody whose knowledge is a bit fresher than mine can give you a better answer (I haven't done this in years, recently having come back to PC from the Mac world).

    seems like when i clone with driveimage xml its only cloning the os partition. looks like driveimage doesnt recognize the recovery partition.

    I used the seagate cloneing program (free on their webpage) and it worked perfect.

    I use Achronis True Image, but you should do a clean install on the Momentus. Being a new tech you might have to worry about alignment and such. Clean install is always safer.

    i did a clean install. but it seems every driver i download dont work. i tried searching the forums and the net for the drivers but can find anything. where can i download the official drivers for this laptop?

    lol. i looked all over that site for drivers. thanks ejohnson. i already started another cloning attempt so if this dont work atleast now i know where the drivers are at.
