So, I just bought my alienware m11x R3. It hasn't arrived yet but I expect it early next week. Anyway here are the specs:

    Intel Core i5-2537M 1.4GHz (2.3GHz Turbo Mode, 3MB Cache)
    4GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1333MHz
NVIDIA GeForce GT540 graphics with 1.0GB Video Memory and Optimus
    320GB 7200RPM SATA 3Gb/s
Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit Service Pack 1, English, w/Media
    Intel Wireless-N WiFi Link 1000 a/g/n 1x2.

Basically my question is this... I just checked the alienware website and they, as of sometime this week I think, put a new processor in this model called the Intel Core i5-2467M 1.6GHz (2.3GHz Turbo Mode, 3MB Cache). I just want to know if this added .2 GHz without turbo is significant. I would think it is basically the same as mine but just uses more power.

It won't really make a difference for gaming because turbo boost will still clock to the same thing, it mite only make running stuff like Microsoft word and surfing the Internet SLIGHTY faster, but really it makes very little difference. And congrats on joining the club!

But just to know... Does more GHz equal less battery life?

Even if you've got a 500000 ghz processor but it's only clocking in a 5 MHz because speedstep hasn't kicked in then your battery will last for days.

All that matters is how fast your processor is actually going, not how many ghz you have.

Yes because the more ghz the power it draws the less battery life it has... Right?

Nope, a higher core voltage uses more battery. Speed doesn't come into it.

Can you boost my i5 to 1.6GHz from the 1.4GHz it normally runs at or is it just if you use turbo boost it goes straight to 2.3GHz?
