You mean to say he wouldn't need a pump? I'm still not entirely sure why you couldn't use a small 120mm all-in-one water cooler to cool just CPU if you were able to make a little bracket that allowed it to fit (albeit with quite a lot of overhang).

You do need a pump offcourse......but if you just want too cool a cpu than maybe youre idea could work i am gonna try that for kingofinterns because i have that stuff here so i let you know if that will works ok?

My mod was always intended for cpu and gpu both thats why i never thougt about just cpu.

My corsair H55 wil never fit on the heatsink.....unfortunatly :mad2:......still if you made one yourself it might work for you, but than the normal fan wil never work and as this was my intension the bracket was not what i wanted.

@king man i tryed and failed getting it on the sink a way i would like but i do have a other idea as on the last picture. but than you would need to but a radiator/pump and fan some thing like this, and 15 euro for a heatsink/waterblok and fittings i can send you right now (last picture).

This will not fit in anyway :hi2:

Hey mike, what was the total cost for your setup and do you have pictures of the whole thing?

Also, if I want to cool the CPU, what do you need.. A list of all parts would help..

updated my frst 2 posts.......wierd that you can not make more pictures in the posts so a good write up it hard too.

total cost for my project is about 400 euro now not including the GTX970m mod as well, it can be done cheaper i know but not the way i wanted it.....i used pretty costly stuff but it looks great and works perfect so i dont mind it. Remember as this was a project this will always cost a lot more because of changes and try and error. Now that i am done i think this was very cool too make and i had a fun time building it......that alone gives e the satisfaction from it and so it was money well spend.

seems my 920xm would not go past 27 on all cores, completly stable it runs on 26 on all cores strange thing is that i will not run past 27 as well on only one core (25,26,27, 28). So i guess my max wil be 26 on all cores but i rather down clock it to 22, 23, 24, 25 just to make sure its really stable....kinda hate blue screens... :D

the power consumtion on my system is 175 watt on 27 all core for those who wanna know..... :chatterbox:

This is legendary! Quite amazing and beautiful work. There are many people that wish they could do something like this! Well done!!

With watercooling now a possibility an effective volt mod must be the next goal! Care to give it a try? haha

Cool, where did you get your 970m from? I'm looking to buy it as well.

It's almost 6 years since I bought my alienware and I can't believe it's still rocking and working sooo smooth. Never gets old!

    Thanks Mike.

    I bought mine with a i5 540m and a nvidia 260m. Then upgraded to 920xm and nvidia 460m and then to a 6970m which also died :(

I have seen plenty of people having their 6970m/7970m dying after few years... Not sure how reliable they are.

So your 970m is the clevo one? Did you have to do any bios flashing?

Yep Clevo indeed came with the X bracket but without other screws so i used the 7970 bracket, bought some thermalpads 1mm and fitted the heatsink. No bios flashed yet because i dint know how :D

I had problems on start with the 6790 first artifacts than black screen never used it.
The 7970 was my own fold wrong thermalpads 0.5 mm worked a few weeks but when i hooked up a second monitor it went wrong. I think it user faileur not the cards them self but i guess no one will admit they blew it......lol.

You seem to have been unlucky mike with the broken amd cards! My 6970M, 6990M and 7970M survived me lol

Any updates on your fantastic water-cooling modification ideas?

Wel actually it was only one card that was broken when i got it......the others still worked 5850 i ran before the gtx on 850/1100, the 7970 broke because of my error......the 7350 still works no mather how rude i treat him....lol.

I have a heatsink and stuff for you king only 20 dollars (shipping not included).....you need to buy some things youre self like radiator (30,-) fans (15,-) and the pump (37,-). you can buy them from aliexpress thats where i got them from.
