Actually looking into doing something exactly like this, but I have some 3 spare U3 fans lying around so going to be using those around to make a 6 fan setup instead.

Going to repaste with liquid metal, hopefully mod the tray (as it is basically one piece of plastic really) and install the fans for some magical chaos! Oh and I have new pads too :D

I notice that EK now has a 3000RPM model with 107CFM airflow and 5.81mm H2O static pressure. This is a huge upgrade from the 2200rpm model I am using. Just make sure you have a power supply capable enough to power them because they draw close to 6W each. I am also assuming these are gonna be loud at full spin so keep that in mind too.

I have them on my GTX1080 heatsink and they work wonders! (2x fan)

Hey man bit of a long shot, but I’m looking to do something quite similar on my U3. I got an MSI GE73 which is running a bit hotter than I’d like it to. I am however struggling to find a 3 pin to 5.5mm adapter anywhere. If you could point me in the right direction that would be awesome. I might post up some results after as I’m using different fans etc. Thanks man, hope yours is still running cool!
