I just got a Clevo 980m with the Prema vbios and it is awesome but my internal screen no longer works and I have to use an external display, Has anyone overcome this?

@Raidriar Maybe u can help the guy
-
Probably bought a gsync card
-
It was taken out of a P750ZM (Non-GSYNC) and it outputs on a 1440p dp non gsync screen
I am trying to replace the prema vbios with the svl7 vbios but it says "This program cannot be run in DOS mode"? -
I've yet to find maxwell NVflash dos version. I just flash through windows. Since you can use external display this shouldn't be a problem for you. Try a standard Clevo 13d7 vBIOS and if that doesn't work there is something else going on. If your device ID is 1617 you are out of luck.
-
Dos NVFLASH doesn't exist anymore, just get a windows version.
-
After a bit of messing around I finally got the stock Clevo 13d7 vBIOS working, and the card is a 13d7 However the internal screen is still not working, I will now try to completely rebuild the system with a different motherboard and try the old 460m to isolate the problem.
Thank you guys for the help with this, Otherwise I would be completely lost! Good to see the community on a 10 year old laptop going strong

Then I'm completely lost unless your LCD magiaclly died or wasn't plugged in right. I've run the same 13d7 card in my M15x.

The internal display works on the 460m, so it’s only on the 980m that it doesn’t work, The monitor is overclocked to 120hz through NVIDIA control panel but I don't think that will make a difference upon boot.

It shouldn’t because that’s how I have mine set up with the 970M. Something is wonky with your card.
-
I'm going to reinstall the stock A09 bios as I currently have the unlocked A09 system bios which may be causing the issue. After switching between the 980m and the 460m and a 740qm and a 940xm the boot times have become much slower, which I think might have to do with the bios.
-
I have unlocked A09 and no problems as you describe
-
After switching between different CPUs and GPUs several times and doing several power drains and CMOS battery fixes, the time it takes to boot has increased drastically, it stays on the Alien Head splash screen for nearly a minute, even with the 460m on the internal display. Does anyone know what this might be caused by? I suspect perhaps my secondary SSD is failing, I .have a repalcement SSD on the way/

Try a power drain. remove battery, AC adapter, CMOS battery, hold power button for 1 minutes, then plug it all back in

I'm here, catching up... -

where did you get the card, can you tell us which vbios it is using, please.
Maybe it's a G-Sync card, or has an odd vbios, the card was not from me, if I recall, I do not remember selling you one recently. -
I got it from a Clevo P750
This is really strange, Just tried power drain with a new CMOS battery after the drain and it booted into BIOS after pressing f2 and it was very fast unlike before, however now it hangs at the alien head splash screen -
Never mind, just got it working after one more power drain with the new CMOS battery attached however CPU performance on the 940XM is atrocious, going to reinstall windowsLast edited: May 1, 2018KY_BULLET likes this.

Got the system working again with the 980m installed, hopefully this will be the final push to get everything in order. The Alienhead boot splash was really strange before, it kept on getting stuck and I installed a new 1tb Samsung 860 EVO M.2 which was not being recognised - that gave me a panic attack, but now it is working. It is however not recognising the 500GB SSD which is now in the ODD Caddy.
I installed copper shims on the 940XM and the 980m, 940XM is running ~70c idle haha but the 980m is idling at 32c which is awesome. I am using Kryonaut for both but I have conductonaut too so I might take the shim off the 940XM and use that. Any suggestions as to what I might be doing wrong with the CPU shim? -
Um yes. You shouldn’t be using any shims at all...
-
Just put two copper shims sandwiched with conductonaut on the CPU, 39c Idle and 68c max load!
-
I have no CPU shims and that's what I get at stock clocks......overclock to 3.6ghz is a different story
-
Do you think I should keep them in? The system performs better with them
-
I wouldn't, no system is designed to use shims and you risk damage to the CPU and GPU. If you feel the heatsinks are not making adequate contact it's far safer to try a new heatsink (like 5$ on ebay).LodestarRising likes this.
