£205 more....No Thanks
-
I think dell's overpricing it. That's around 230 dollars in USD. Or they're trying to get rid of the 5850 for the 6xxx.
-
In Denmark as well, at +1940 DKK over the 240M.
Gonna write Nordic Spare Parts and inquire about buying one. -

So here's the 2 big questions left to ask: 1-where the heck is the new bios Dellienware? 2-Why would you release it in other markets before the US?(I would think the US would be the biggest AW market.
-
Thats great news!
Its not out in Singapore yet. -
180€ more than hd5850 in spain, a bit expensive i think
-
gtx 460m 1.5g was also released in japan
14700 Japanese yen(about $181.4818) than hd5850
i dont know which one to choose... -
how do you know the latest BIOS doesn't support the 460m?
-
Dam awesome ... out of warrently upgrade... here i come............ lol with my other alienware M15x laptop non tampered with.
-
I'm still in warranty, can I claim that my 260 throttles and get a 460?
If it weren't for that latest BIOS update, that would be true. Darn catch-22's... -

If you've got throttling you can prove you can try, they are going to want proof though.

Maybe Dell USA still has plenty of GTX 260M stock. Well, you would need many people to quickly purchase all M15x with GTX 260M, so that they can exhaust all their GTX 260M stock and bring in the newer GTX 460M.
If is now available in Dell Malaysia and Dell Singapore. -
Contacted dell tech support this morning for the cost of an out of warrenty upgrade to the GTX460m = 400£ inc tech visit to keep the system in warrenty
the HD5850 inc tech visit = 304£
Mine is being upgraded in about 2 weeks time -

I thought you already supposedly had a 460m running in an m15x fynight? I seem to remember you posting about it in another thread....
-
you are correct i have two M15x systems one modified and one under warrently.... the one modified is still under going tests where i goto to uni with the new 480m installed with a modified bios and alot of other upgrades.
The other M15x is under warrenty and i keep it that way. -

Dang! Bet the one with the 480m is able to heat a small house!
Care to share this bios?
-
Everthing will be shared as soon as the programers, engineers are happy... this is my third yr project for myself and my team of friends ........ so we need to make sure its 100% working.

I second that, don't want to throw it on my computer if it's gonna cause any issues.....any improvements such as maybe OCing the cpu included in this by chance?
-
currently no over clocking however it is part of our final year to improve performace and prove it so if all goes well we might OC stuff however this is going to be done later in production & testing
-

Sounds good, seems like you guys are doing some cool stuff over there!
-
Any has number regarding how good is the 460m when you compare it to the 260GTX ?!
-
DaneGRClose Notebook Virtuoso
From what I saw the 460m should beat the 260m substantially, especially in DX11 and CUDA/PhysX apps.
-
Gaming peformance, its more or less the same as the 5850m at stock, or a little less than the 5870m so like 25-30% better than the 260m
Not worth the price over the 5850m i'd say... unless you need it for the CUDA/Physx -
I want it for the drivers. I'm not doing AMD when there's an Nvidia choice.
Except there isn't yet because Dell isn't actually selling it yet GRRRRRR.
I've had a G73jw sitting here for a full two weeks. -
good news, gonna wait a little longer for the 470M
GTX460M official in Europe.
