Very interested in seeing what you can do here Mandrake![]()

I flashed the bios as well, and installed new drivers. The install works now, but my external monitors stopped working and are not being detected by neither CCC nor the windows tool. I wonder if its a problem with the drivers or VBIOS
EDIT: Turns out its the vbios issue
. I flashed back and the monitors started working immediately.
      -
 Which drivers are you using?
 -

I installed 10.5 after flashing the bios. But then realized that it wouldnt detect the external monitors. As a side note, The monitor running on HDMI (over DP) would also display the same pre-os stuff as the laptop monitor (e.g. post-message and bootloader). After flashing the bios, it wouldnt anymore, so I am quite sure its the bios

Does it work for you? -
I'm sure it is the vbios. I was just wondering which driver you used. I haven't tried it myself. I'm OC'ing the system right now by flashing it and it seems more stable than using ATI overdrive. I would compare ATI overdrive with the AMD GPU tool. It works nice for average OC'ing but if you want high clocks it's more stable flashing the card.
 -

Back to benching....I verified that flashing your vbios with a voltage change is actually changing it because anything above 1.15v and performance goes down. I haven't verified a difference between 1.05v and 1.15v yet.
 -

are you running throttleStop as well? That gives me a performance boost as well
 -
I am in some of my tests. I haven't seen much of a difference with it.
Have you tried the Clevo ATI drivers yet? -

thewhitewizard Notebook Evangelist
Did not try Clevo ati drivers... With the msi bios its not very stable even with 1.15v.. I was running furmark... even though it didn't hit more than 85c... still had artifacting..... a couple of times....
 -

cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
artifacting means your memory is clocked too high or needs better cooling (or both)
 -

 -

wow i can never get my core that high on 06, also i can't seem to rise my cpu multi, maybe to x25 but anything past that i would get a bsod.
 -
Three rules to benchmarking: keep it cold, keep it real cold and third watch out for frost.
      -

cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
Frost.....

That was the end of my first SSD lol -
Yes, rule number three used to be keep it really really cold but changed to watch out for frost since your little incident.

clevo cards are proving to be better for now.... and i don't get the artefacts with the clevo bios.........
@mandrake and skook.. i maxed out at 955/1130 using amd gpu tool with clevo bios..
did u increase the voltage for those clocks... -

The Revelator Notebook Prophet
Nice scores, Mandrake. Anything left?
I tried the Clevo drivers earlier. They're ATI 9.12's and are fine - stable and perform well, roughly equivalent to the 10.4's and 10.5's, but saw no reason to forego the tweaks and fixes included in the more recent drivers. -

thewhitewizard Notebook Evangelist
which bios u on revelator...
 -
Can't increase past 1.15v without losing performance.
You don't know me very well do you....
      -

The Revelator Notebook Prophet
I'm back on the Clevo vbios. It just seems stronger and more stable, but will probably experiment further with the MSI. It was fun to play with, if only to see more of the card's features available. How about you? -

The Revelator Notebook Prophet
LOL. Well, a little encouragement never hurts. It would be a service to the community to see you displace your own ASUS-based single GPU record with a proper hardware rig. -
That will definitely be done. Plus benthedogtrainer has a fully loaded G73 and an AC unit. He plans on passing my score but I told him not to even bother trying.
      -

benthedogtrainer Notebook Evangelist
Dude ur going down. New a/c unit is up and running u will be destroyed (son)
 -
First you need to beat my M15x score...lol
 -

thewhitewizard Notebook Evangelist
same here... back on clevo bios... more stable... even though temps are lower with msi bios 1.15v... tried furmark hit max 87c in 8 min.... with clevo bios i hit around 95c in 10 min.... but started getting artefacts with furmark around 87c with msi bios.... and clevo bios is stable even at 95c...
looks like my top seat for the gpu vantage will be taken sson enough ... mandrake has come in to destroy all the top scores....
      -
I haven't even tried Vantage yet. That will be next.

It's your world and your time Mandrake. We serve only as witnesses. But you've got to kick benthedogtrainer's Asus @ss to preserve the dignity of the tribe. Wonder where Ben disappeared to these past several months.
 -

The Revelator Notebook Prophet
Ben, where have you been and what happened to your stable of tricked out M17x-R2's? -

cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
Mandrake can usually bring the rain

Every time he gets passed....he makes the distance up again -

The Revelator Notebook Prophet
Yep. It's just that the ASUS bios creates such advantage in the right (properly equipped) hands.
 -

 -

Lol nice....
Wont that 16gb of RAM hold him back abit ?? -

I tried to tell him that but he thinks it's going to give him an advantage.
 -

Did he buy a beefier PSU for it ?... Like the Targus/lite-on one atleast ?..
 -
He just did. His current PSU kept shutting off on him.
 -

benthedogtrainer Notebook Evangelist
i am going to buy a genarator dedicated to power the new a/c adapter........lol....damn i cant believe it gave out on me....my clocks were beautifully high and then the damn adapter shut off....
 -

benthedogtrainer Notebook Evangelist
awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
 -

benthedogtrainer Notebook Evangelist
i still think it will -
Lol... How is more RAM going to help in benchmarks that are not using that much to begin with ?....
Now if you were doing a RAM benchmarking contest(he who has the most wins) then you would be the winner lol but for Vantage ,06 etc ? take out the 3 sticks and set them on the shelf till you are all done with your benching/testing/competing....
Hey Drake ... Any plans for a 480m machine anytime soon ? Like the X7200 or the W880CU/NP9280 etc .... Im dying to see how far that card can be pushed on Air(conditioning).... -
Not at the moment but things change. I still don't believe they will release a 480M SLI system. We will see shortly.
 -

So you think the X7200 will not exist ? or atleast with SLI even when they advertised it with such ?... Or are you thinking since they pulled all the info maybe they were running into problems etc ?...
It would be hard to believe they would go through all that trouble showing it off then just say its not going to happen...
Im sure Hemi will have a word in here before nights end lol.... (Hemi, defender of all things Clevo and X7200)
.... JK Hemi

...
      -

benthedogtrainer Notebook Evangelist
we will see -

benthedogtrainer Notebook Evangelist
i think so ....i hope for the best -
I have a hard time believing what they advertise will exist. It will be interesting if I'm wrong.
 -

benthedogtrainer Notebook Evangelist
well my friend you have been known to be wrong...

      -
Well if they have a 5 pound power brick behind it i guess its very possible ...
One thing is for certain those cards are going to pull some serious heat, i have 0 doubt in my mind about that and then coupled with a desktop CPU ? ... It all sounds just insane yet very exciting lol... -

I don't think Alienware is releasing a 480M SLI system. They had enough issues with the dual 5870s.
 -

benthedogtrainer Notebook Evangelist
i have a hard on waiting for this sucker...although mandrake will have some issues keeping up with me soon..hahahah
 -

Alienware has had enough issues with anything pertaining to 2 cards and heck even 1 .... Throttle/Stutter/DPC you name it and Alienware has been the leader in that regard...
 -
Are you going to get a X7200 Ben ?
....

Seems like you have a small fortune invested into that G73
...
