This happens to mine rarely, but it goes back to normal after 1-2 minutes after start up.

This used to happen all the time for me, than it went away for several months and now its happened twice in the past few days. It truly drives me crazy. There is nothing worse than being at Uni in the library or w/e and firing it up and having it sound like a harrier jet is on the desk in front of me haha brutal. I'll have to try that stealth mode trick next time.

    Same for me here,

already called the service desk, replaced the grafics card, motherboard and fans
but still the same issue, it blasts randomly on startup also after logon.

After the error appears the next restart the fan blows up and goes down slowly instead of shutting off instantly like normal.

I run the a09 bios but its happened to me also with a08 others i never tried but i don´t think so it helps....

i also noticed i happens more often, if i shut down the system directly after gaming.

Sometimes, and with light gaming as well. Not each time you launch an application but here and there, occasionally.

*EDIT* This thread is dead..sorry didn't notice

seems like the m14x has the same issue like the m15x, great job dell... maybe they just took the bios from the m15x for the m14x and discontinued the m15x because they just cant repair the issue, i dont know...

No, the M14x has an Award BIOS, the M15x Phoenix, anyway the BIOS is totally different in the M15x, other chipset, integrated vbios (I guess)...

Didn't know the M14x has the same issue, but it's not a big deal imo.

Don't know, the fan is on full blast all the time anyway during boot :D (Until HWiNFO64 starts and regulates them automatically)

It's still available in Europe afaik, but I don't think they'll update the BIOS unless they find a very serious bug... M15x is a dying breed, that's correct.... unfortunately.
But it's still one of the best 15.6 inch systems available imo.
