As the title says, it´s a modded .inf for the M15x with a GTX970m.
Download the matching driver version from Nvidias site, extract its contents and replace the file located in Display.Driver folder.
Just don´t forget to disable Driver Signature Enforcement before installing or it won´t work.
I´ll try to keep this post up to date.
The latest file is for 511.23 Windows 10 64b driver.
    Enjoy.-

Why are you use section from M17 R2(0688) with built-in graphics, but not from M18(05AB) without it?

When I made the first modded inf for 419.67 ver I tried all sections and bench them in order to choose one. They all performed practically the same on my laptop, but had one bsod in a pass using the original section to the 05AB model. I don´t know if it was due to that particular section selection or if it was a result of another thing, but since then I stuck with the second section option. I guess drivers have come a long way ever since and maybe, I need to bench them again to get the best marginal result available. As soon as I have some spare time I´ll do it again.-

Benched diferent sections options and landed in the same result, up to 0.54% (less than 1%) performance increase with second section selection.

Hi there, i have a m15x that im modding as a hobby, and i have used ur inf file to install drivers. Thanks alot for the modded inf btw.

So i am having this problem with my games. one online game that i play randomly crashes without any specific error code. or atleast im not able to find the dump file for the crash.
Another game also crashes the same way but it also gives a strange warning before startup. i will link the picture here for reference.
    RSI.PNG gtx 970.PNG
the drivers i installed are 436.15

any idea what could be causing the crashes?

Both are online games btw. Thanks.

Ok, I believe your OS is somehow rolling back old drivers, as your screen says your installed driver is way to old, and by no means 436.15ver. The current ones start with 26.21 and your is, as your second screen shows, 4 years old. I will sugest you to reinstall the newest version, with the clean install option checked. Also don't forget to disable driver signature enforcement option with your next restart before you install these drivers and also accept the warning sign when installing them. After you are sure you have installed them correctly, check your working version on your Nvidia contol panel or in the Nvidia GeForce Experience App. (Techpowerup GPU-Z is another option too)

Ok so i uninstalled the drivers, turned off driver signature enforcement first using shift restart then later through gpedit, and tried reinstalling the drivers. But for some reason it just wont install the display drivers it simply goes to driver installation failed. i accepted the warning that pops up during installation too and the driver installs for a second as i see the screen flicker but then it goes back to failed.

    Any suggestions?

I have a custom vbios installed btw.

Update: flashed stock vbios no difference. tried earlier version of drivers. no difference. HELP PLEASE.

This is the only thing you need to do in order to disable driver signature enforcement

    1. Press and hold the Shift key on your keyboard and click the Restart button.
    2. Choose Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings and click the Restart button.
    3. When your computer restarts you’ll see a list of options. Press F7 on your keyboard to select Disable driver signature enforcement.
    4. Your computer will now restart and you’ll be able to install unsigned drivers.
Bear in mind that this method only temporarily disables driver signature enforcement until the next restart, so be sure to install all the unsigned drivers as soon as you can.

Next is to decompress the file downloaded from Nvidia, (be sure to check that the version matches the inf file version downloaded from here), replace the inf file and run the setup.exe
I would choose a clean setup option, but its optional. In the middle of the instalation a prompt will appear asking if you are sure to install an unsiggned driver, select yes and you are done.

If it still fails, let me know and will go from there.

(No need to do gpedit and also its veeeery important to double check driver and inf matching versions)

Thanks for the work, my gtx970 has passed to m17xr4. But it is possible that one day he will return to the legendary m15x. It is a fantastic machine.
I love seeing people who keep pushing these jewels to the present.
    Have a good day.

So i found the issue blazeghost. For one my windows was beyond repair and i had to refresh it. and then I found out that windows kept trying to update my updated drivers. so whenever i installed the latest ones its reverted to 351.xx drivers lol. what worked for me was doing a rollback after the update.
I think this an issue fir windows 10. Thanks for ur help and the inf files.

Now im trying to find a overclocking vbios as ive watercooled the gtx970m lol. :D

I think this one should work for your 860m, but since I can´t test it, I can´t say it for sure.
Follow the same instructions an let me know if it does.-

Ok, just to be sure, you are indeed using a windows 10 64b OS right?
If so, please post me a harware id screenshot of your 860m card, with that info i'll be able to mod the driver inf for you.

    https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.wikihow.com/Find-Hardware-ID?amp=1

Follow those instructions in order to get the hardware id of your card, if you dont know how to do it.-

Ok, I think this one should work, remember to disable windows driver signature enforcement before installing it and also double check you download the compatible and exact same driver version from Nvidias site.
    Good luck.-

Quick question, I just experimentally switched from Quadro M4000M to GTX 970M, and after manual mod of the inf the brightness control is gone, is it an issue of a driver after certain release breaking Brightness Control or just a botched inf mod?

Hey man, it's great work you're doing here!
I got a question: i have an AW17 2013 with a 970m and I am looking for the modified inf version of 456.38.
What do I need to change from your .inf to make it compatible with my computer?

    Thanks a lot
