Hi guys! I upgraded my alienware m15x to a gtx 880m (not bad performance btw, but I really need to put a better fan in here because it's killing performance when it gets hot), and my audio seems to be messed up.
When installing the gpu I disabled the onboard audio and uninstalled the windows drivers for it to get the gpu to stop acting up (this didn't work btw, it ended up being related to an msi vBIOS that i had to swap for a dell one), and ever since i've re-enabled the audio and installed drivers, audio is slightly delayed, extremely loud and distorted, and is completely un-usable at every volume level. I can't seem to figure out what's going on. does anyone have a suggestion?

I recently upgraded to a GTX 780M (MSI card) and hit a road block on the audio issue too. Tried all the recommended troubleshooting andstill couldn't get it to work... I'm kinda given up hope on restoring the audio. The 780M is on MSI stock vbios currently.
Based on your experience, you flashed a Dell vbios on your 880m and got back the audio albeit some bugs?
Any M15x maesters here can verify if I flash my 780m with a Dell vbios or sl7's I could get the audio to work too?
Really want back the audio, my M15x been giving me the silent treatment ever since the upgrade 1 week ago
. Trust me I CAN handle my missus's silent treatment. But this M15x takes the cake.
Any advice from the maesters here would really appreciate it. -
780M is known to to have audio issues with the M15x, M17x r2 and M17x R3 due to IRQ incompatibility between the the onboard IDT sound chips and the nvidia 780M audio codec. Some people have had more success in removing all nvidia drivers, disabling sound in the BIOS, re-installing nvidia drivers, then re-enabling sound in the BIOS. I would give that a try first.
Post-GPU upgrade audio issues?
