I'm just wondering, coz i'm looking to buy an AW laptop, but I find them a bit expensive(I live in europe). Thought you guys would know whether dell has done some good sales for old modelsin the past when introducing new models. A M15x with 740qm, 4gb ram, GTX460m, 1600x900 screen, 500g hdd will cost me $2000 dollars (1500 euro's) here in europe, waaay too much for the specs obv.

I will recommend you to wait, there gonna be the new model of alienware m15x, and then that laptop that costs 2000$ will cost maybe 1800$... where are you from? U.K? France?
-
You sure about that one?
I heard they were dropping the M15x and picking up the M14x for its replacement... of course its all speculation.. the real question is.. do you want to wait and find out... because I don't. and a 17"er is perfect for me... -
I just dont understand why is Dell still selling M15x without refreshing it ...the same with m11x.Its so ridiculous that they sell it to you and even give u 3 years of warranty coverage ..yet the product goes to EOL.
Dell is still selling Dell XPS 14inch despite its official death in Asian markets etc. And when your system breaks down or needs some hardware replacement..either they make you wait for a part replacement or they would try to push a replacement machine to you , even if your system is 3 months old.
Its all in the fine print on how they manage warranty. -
so you buy an EOL notebook and demand that they upgrade when it breaks...
-
I live in the Netherlands.
Yeah that was my idea too..m14x with crap specs will replace the m15x. Very bad decision IMO. AW is just so expensive here in europe, even with 10% coupon combined with 90euro sale coupon the prices are ridiculous.
I do not mind that the product is almost at eol, as you say Dell has always showed great service regarding warranty issues. -
Over on the m15X forums the feeling is the new m17Xr3 single core gpu is the replacement for the m15X the m18X replacing the m17Xr2 duel gpu option and i guess the m14X is just new lol

Warranty is a BIG selling point for Dell/Alienware. I owned many systems in the past and no manuacturer/retailer can beat their service. Would you rather ship your system and wait for weeks for it to be fixed or have NBD service?
-
I'll sell you my m15x for a sick deal. It has 3 years of advanced care warranty on it, so if it ever breaks you'll have no worries. -
Why cant I PM the OP? Strange...ah well. OP take a look at marktplaats for a 17 R3.
-
I tried to get a 15x the other day, they only had the lower end ati card, I wanted the 460, but they said it was unavailable. I know they got the cards and they will work in the machines so I don't know why they stopped offering it via configuration and online/telephone sales.
-
Yeah I read that too.
I expect a system in which not many errors occur tbh.
Are you from Holland/Belgium too ?
Dno what the problem is..I've seen the r3 now, but it's a really buffed up one with 3d and all that. Tbh I don't want to spend 2k on a laptop, my max is 1.5k(euros)
Yeah I couldn't choose the full hd screen anymore, but it's typical delll style to do this weird stuff lol -
I'm from the United States. So I bought it cheaper than what you can buy it for. So I can give it to you for less than what you would pay for it.
-
Take a look at ebay. The 3D one is mine.
-
IF you want a 17 R3 let me know the specs. Will see what I can do for you. Just send me a email.
If you cant email from this site send me a email through my add on marktplaats.
This is only for the OP, since I cant PM him for some reasson.
Will dell make some sick sale for m15x ?
