$300 of M15x today on dell.com
-
Hi,
I heard a refresh is coming soon.... but which way can a m15x be upgraded? It is already a decent machine.
Anyone knows/guesses which new component(s) will we see?
I'm hearing something about RGB LCD's, and i'm expecting maybe a new gpu option... so that's about it?
Is this discount worth it or is it just getting rid of old stock? -
Hmmm... why wouldn't they do this to the M17x?

They should have the old set of CPU's back. I don't understand why quad i7's are not offered any more. Maybe I should wait until end of Feb to see what they have out. By the way is this price decrease for the US only? Not UK?

It still says $1399 for me. And they do still have quad i7s in them just not as the base processor. There are still 3 quad i7 options available. Whats the deal with the i7 thats not a quad is it just a rebranded arrandale? I wonder what the performance of that chip is compared to the 720QM which is priced the same.

you have to go to dell home/office laptop page. On that page there is a small icon for Dell's most powerful computers on sale for 24 hours. Click on that for the $300 off system that you can personalize.

If you use that base price from alienware site and start upgrading to i7 720, 260m and 6 gig of ram it ends up costing 1899... which is the configuration used in this discount to 1599.
So the deal really is:
-Upgrade from i5 540m to i7 720qm
-Upgrade from 240m to 260m
-Upgrade from 3Gb to 6Gb ram
for 200 instead of 500 if you use the link to dellstore and select the m15x discounted config, which is the same but deosn't let you downgrade the upgraded cpu or gpu or ram. -
anyone know if it is possible to use a student discount with this deal?

Lawl, thats just like the deal we got in canada (which I bought). Damn I'm not that cool already.
