    Color Options
as of now, customers may select either a Space Black or Lunar Silver chassis. a video, released by Alienware, showcases a Mars Red chassis as well. However, there is no information at this point regarding the release of this chassis color, and rumors indicate it has been dropped by Alienware.

You are a master of presentation whizzo. But I think you should up that single 280 price option a bit more towards $250-$300.

    updated.

@Phinagle: to be on the safe side, i went with the CPUs AW currently offers in the m17. of course, it could easily be possible that AW will offer some new chips in the M17x.

The 1920x1200 screen is listed as an upgrade: no telling what the base will be, but given both Dell and Alienware's past models, I'd expect 1440x900 base. At least $100 to upgrade, possibly $200?

Yup I got where you were coming from. I was adding what I hope would also be offered for a CPU selection. The T9900 should really just replace the X9100 as an option completely if thee's no unlocked multipliers in the BIOS. (I don't believe it will be.)

That would be something I'd have to find out before buying. If it's unlocked multipliers like the Whitebook (doubtful) I'd buy the cheapest CPU from AW and eBay a QX9300.

If it's an OC utility like ASUS and MSI use I'd go for a T9900 or Q9100.

Got something in writing? Even with the comparison pics it can still be an illusion of the lighting.

The center piece is a different material/finish then the rest of the lid so wouldn't reflect light the same.

more then likly a OC utility thats what it was for the member a while back

it was like a .3 and a .5 ghz over clock

    better then nothing right?

how can i get something in writeing ?

AW hasn't even leaked the specs yet

that picture just looks like a mac book aluminum..... they used aluminum so i think they are going to offer it in its native color as well as matte finish

i think that pic Moo posted shows a silver chassis. on a side note, i love how AW is using the chassis design of the Dell m6400 with the wraparound aluminium.

At the current moment, I'm not aware of any new designs. Keep in mind that it's still just a prototype, and it's subject to change. A while back, everyone thought that an black m15x was going to be launched, but it was more of a display piece.

Save the new look in the case, I see nothing remarkable here. What are the improvements over the previous model? For example, any improvement in battery life? The rest of the specs don't vary much.
I'm glad I'm not the only one that noticed that.
