Color Options
as of now, customers may select either a Space Black or Lunar Silver chassis. a video, released by Alienware, showcases a Mars Red chassis as well. However, there is no information at this point regarding the release of this chassis color, and rumors indicate it has been dropped by Alienware.

Don't post false information please.. -
You are a master of presentation whizzo. But I think you should up that single 280 price option a bit more towards $250-$300.

Silver and i have a pic
and whizzo starting will be a 250 gb HD
and over clocking its got the bios a member said AW was developing
-
updated.
@Phinagle: to be on the safe side, i went with the CPUs AW currently offers in the m17. of course, it could easily be possible that AW will offer some new chips in the M17x. -
would be likly since it does not want to be on PAR with the m17 it need to be above
what yall think of silver?
i have 2 new pics -
so silver will be an available "color" for the aluminium?
-
The 1920x1200 screen is listed as an upgrade: no telling what the base will be, but given both Dell and Alienware's past models, I'd expect 1440x900 base. At least $100 to upgrade, possibly $200?
-
yes it will and there is a nice picture of it
lol i get what your saying though
JUST NOTICED
the silver looks to be Aluminum (uncovered like Macbook)
the black looks to have matte finish over the Al. -
-
plastic cover of some sort i would think it has something to do with the hinges or just decoration
-
-
on the m17x it was 300 i think
pretty sure because i was like OMG!!!!1111 -
-
Moo you sure that Silver just isn't the black with shinier lighting?
-
-
yes look at it it has a faint speckle liek brushed aluminum and then look at the sides
and then look at the center peice it BLACK deep black then look around it and its clearly silver -
there is black
silver -
-
That would be something I'd have to find out before buying. If it's unlocked multipliers like the Whitebook (doubtful) I'd buy the cheapest CPU from AW and eBay a QX9300.
If it's an OC utility like ASUS and MSI use I'd go for a T9900 or Q9100. -
The center piece is a different material/finish then the rest of the lid so wouldn't reflect light the same. -
more then likly a OC utility thats what it was for the member a while back
it was like a .3 and a .5 ghz over clock
better then nothing right?
how can i get something in writeing ?
AW hasn't even leaked the specs yet
that picture just looks like a mac book aluminum..... they used aluminum so i think they are going to offer it in its native color as well as matte finish
http://www.geek.com/articles/games/alienwares-allpowerful-revealed-meet-the-new-m17x-20090529/ -
i think that pic Moo posted shows a silver chassis. on a side note, i love how AW is using the chassis design of the Dell m6400 with the wraparound aluminium.

This thread is now the official new M17X thread - there are too many threads coming up. Thanks for posting this information, whizzo.
-
-
hey whizzo Chaz shut down my pictures thread mind adding all them up includeing the silver ?
i see how it is Chaz
i posted what whizzo said just not as good -
i think it's just a design element, similar to the lid of the Studio XPS 13 and 16. -
-

Feel free to take any of the posts/info you find useful from the other threads and quote/re-post them here. When I picked a thread to use as the official M17X thread, I picked the one with the most informative first post.
-
they are all in the first post of the thread in my sig
i was just playing chaz lol
im good whizzo did it better then me i gave up constructing a thread after i gathered every thing and hit send and got a 404
i said SCREW THIS -
-
I can supply the pics as well. Might just as easy copy and re insert them.
Gabe -
-
Doesn't make this the Owner's lounge does it? -
Are you still putting together a potential buyer's list Moo? You could just edit out your first post and start listing names.
Gabe -
no its just the offical info thread for now
i gave up after oooomg i want this lemme save!!!!!!11111
me n phinagle will get it done -
pics added to the first post. -
...dont give me false hope
I was really hoping for a fingerprint reader...its like my fetish -
Hey Gabez do you know if there are any other designs for the lid that might come out for release? Not colors, designs.
-
-
I think this server is vastly overloaded. Notebookreview might have to look at upgrading it soon.
-
-
At the current moment, I'm not aware of any new designs. Keep in mind that it's still just a prototype, and it's subject to change. A while back, everyone thought that an black m15x was going to be launched, but it was more of a display piece.
Gabe -
-
No sub-woofer?
-
Save the new look in the case, I see nothing remarkable here. What are the improvements over the previous model? For example, any improvement in battery life? The rest of the specs don't vary much.
-
no idea
but seriously i would rather another fan then a sub woofer.....
and there is no finger print reader... i have looked through a bunch of pics
Krane quit trolling
santa rosa (dual) to montevina (quad)
ddr2 to ddr3
9800m gt to SLI 280m gtx (world first)
aluminum chassis from ...?????
and the upgrade in style points
overclocking
2 colors -
That Silver one is very nice looking , you can tell its silver from the base of the machine, no amount of lighting would make it look that much brighter.
-
Based on this information, can anyone pick out an 'above average' spec with bang-for-the-buck upgrades for me? Please ^_^;
