Ever consider parting it out?

 

I have had good luck with the 3yr ones and complete care. they have replaced my system a few times.

 

do not do cragiglist unless you want scammers. i had an hp laptop before and i put it on there and i had about 30 scammers form all over the world. not one real person. if you want to go thourgh that then all means. as for me anything over 200 a scammer will try to get at you.

 

Well people who bought M1330's and M1530's, weren't thinking too straight... What ,most people need to understand is the most important part of a computer or laptop is the GPU and Motherboard... If those aren't at least decent the computers not gonna last long

 

I had a question about the Alienware plate on the unit.. I've seen on the US website that they offer inscribing? I was never given that option on my (Canadian) site.

VIDEOS!!! DO you have a Video camera? or a normal camera that can take video?

 

But that doesn't have anything to do with the warranty service. Those laptops were plagued with problems themselves and Dell still attempted to fix them.
(It's not like if someone had a 1330/1530 with problems and Dell didn't do any warranty work for it.)

I had both - my 1330 was replaced by Dell with the 1530. I ended up selling the 1530 and moved on.

 

my friend's m1530 lcd cracked and dell said 600 to replace the lcd. so i am currently looking for one for him.

 

You're looking at the i7 bench. A single 280M with T9900 should get about 12,200.

Now a word about 3dmark06 and why it's kind of useless. Since 1280x1024 is a low res for high end cards, when you're using 2 of those same cards you're not getting double the performance, more like 20% more. You've got a CPU bottleneck, so overclocking the CPU gets you much higher scores. You could take that 14,500 score with stock sli 280M to over 18k by getting that CPU to 4ghz. That's kind of impossible in a laptop though, but you get the idea. The best scores will come from QX9300's over 3ghz, into the 17-18k range. Which is higher than any other notebook so far... But not that much higher, because CPU's are still the same speed.

3870 has a great architecture for 3dmark06. It's easy to believe Ati tuned the card in for 3dmark for marketing reasons. So it still won't be easy to beat those 16k+ scores if you don't have the same CPU. But if you switch the battle to Vantage, the 3870s will get slaughtered. GPU scores will go from 6-7k in the CF 3870 to 11k+ with sli 280M and good overclocks. My single 280M is trailing the 3870's by 10% in this bench.

yes i can do more pictures and videos ...all thats well and good ... but i unno i get the feeling no body wants it ...im getting depressed on my laptops behalf

while a decent idea, you may want to re-think that.

you may sell a few things, but then be stuck with the remainder - never to see it sell.
i would relist with better pics, and vids.
do craigslist, list again in NBR, and entertain all options aside from parting.

if you sell just one gpu and cant sell the rest, then your xfire just became less of an interest then it is now.

 

by part out i mean sell bare bones 1200-1300 and then CPU Ram HD

if i get a 1250 for the barebones its gone ....(sad thing is i turned down 1200 for the barebones before)

 

thats a hard sell. go 1100-1200 everything except cpu.

 

I'd think you would be able to get 500 to 600 for the cards alone.

seems you better take a hard look at what you currently have vice what you want.
we all now you want better battery power, but at what cost now?
you have a system that rocks, plays games at max settings without hiccup.
your even mentioning you really dont have all the money to get the new unit.

now - i am NOT telling you what to do...but maybe you just need to be happy with your current unit and tweak it more to get more out of it.
live within your means...you will be rewarded in the end...

I'd sell the whole thing because I am drawn to the M17x's appeal

 

if i had patience when i sold mines i would go for the new sager. but now with my np9262 i'm currently very happy with but i NEED sli

 

well i just want to switch the M17x is better for 4 reasons

i can upgrade to quad
MXM 3.0 = longer lasting
chassis is all around better
battery life

i understand where your coming from but i am stuck with a system that has no more GPU upgrades...

@ any one ... the MSI laptop uses a 4850. What MXM is that?

 

that's one reason why i parted with my maxed out beauty but you can get the quad now. everything else is??????????

For all those that had aspirations to buy the red chassis, I got bored and made these. I couldn't find good pics anywhere and wanted to see what it'd look like (roughly), so this is my guesstimation based on the "making of" flick. It's definitely not impossible that this option be introduced in the future, be it an ATI specific option or otherwise, so for those few that wont already have one by then...

Never mind the reflections, I wasn't shooting for supposed leaked images, lol.

I'd take clearer pics and try eBay again. Also instead of calling it a "Rare Green" M17 call it custom.

llol i dont need a quad now but later down the road i might like one who knows I am going into the Computer field and where i end up i unno

 

don't say later down the road unless it's going to be within 3 months. i learned that as we al did with the w840di.

what ever you see now and buy and say i will upgrade later, something new and better will be out and you'll say should i still keep this or upgrade it.

 

If you can get $1300 moo you should just let it go man , these machines are going to be selling more and more used everyday and you know what happens when theres tons out there for sale ? prices drop beyond comprehension . People are dumping there rigs already for super cheap and no one is even interested, imagine 3 weeks from now when the M17x's end up in peoples hands , the market will be flooded so to speak with them. Worst part about the alienware M17 is the lack of warranty transfer (that scares the heck out of me on that amount of money with 0 protection).

 

and at what cost?
he has invested time and money to get what he has. for him to lose such an investment so early is a waste really...

but i will no longer comment...it is his money and unit after all...

Anyone know of a good photo hosting site I can use, I exceeded the data transfer limit with my red chassis images . Also, someone said they couldn't even see my images due to network configuration earlier, so something foolproof would be nice...
