Just replaced my problem a03 m15x mobo with the new boards for 2 times , the first time dell support bring me with a a01 bois ready board, but it seems it is not brand new ,at least i can see some tiny dust on the board. so i asked them if it is a used one , they told me frankly it is ,here comes how to know it ,
with every board, you can only type service tag ONE time in the bios settings main interface, that is if it is a used one ,the service tag may be printed already with the old one, but dell said it is still possible to remove it from the factory, but they don't do it usually . that means if your board comes with different service tag ,it MUST be a serviced one.
I told dell i don't accept a serviced board though it may be nothing wrong with it, so they bring me another brand new board ,starting with A00, in the next 2days, this time ,it does look brand new, and when finally installed it and powered on into bios settings, i can type my original service tag into it for just ONE time ,and the service tag window became grey and non-editable right away.
so maybe this is the way to identify your replaced mobo is a new one or serviced one .

and regarding the f12 diagnosis issue, run it WITH YOUR POWER CABLE CONNECTED, otherwise you may encounter error when it comes to the brightness changing state. with power cable connected, every test past successfully

After that, the Service Tag is permanent. At least as far as I am concern - I cant change it. We however do not know if they can "remove" this Service Tags on our BRICKED MOBO for later use. I bet they can - otherwise, these bricked boards are a total waste of money. -

You can change the service tags on these machines using a special tool they only give to technitians. I had the tool on my USB stick
because I had to try and work through it with the tech when my new mobo's serial tag wasn't updating properly.
