I've just checked the Alienware UK website and apparently the base configuration starts at £2400! Does this seem ridiculous to anyone else apart from me? They've completely priced themselves out of the market, particularly for a laptop which isn't even cutting-edge.

No, youre right they do madly overcharge
I guess they think their name justifies that though...

Actually, dual 9800GTs are pretty cutting edge imo. Its that expensive because of the sheer price of the graphics. In Alienware AU, 9800Gt SLI costs 1300$.
Also check if the RAM is 4GB, that can easily be 180 pounds -
my m15x with 2.5 processor,200gb HD,4gb ram,8800gtx,x-fi sound card and 3 years warranty ws £2005 in march this year so to me that does sound over the top.
but if you are talking about the m17x with dual cards then that is where the extra price has come from. -
I know it's expensive, but when the equivalent Dell is £600 less with more RAM and a bigger hard drive then I start to wonder what exactly I'm paying for.
This is with 2GB RAM and 160GB Hard Drive

I may take the plunge and order simply because the deals are so much better than anywhere else. I can't really afford to blow £2400 on a laptop when I'm also spending £1000 on a desktop.
£2400 base configuration (2.5GHz, Dual 9800GTs)
