Hey all, I am waiting on an M17x R2, and was wondering what advice you might have considering some of the ongoing issues reported on the platform.

I am hoping there are no stuttering issues since its a P55 platform, but what else should I be on the lookout for? It *sounds* like there are several problem areas:

    - throttling

    - bios version

    - stealth mode

    - slot drive

    - old ATI drivers (in my case)

Anything else you guys would recommend taking a look at?

    ?????

only thing i can really understand is the throttleing ... but i doubt it will happen since it is a 17 inch laptop so it has the room needed for a mjor power supply

Mine should hit boxing in the next day or two. ETA is 2/3 but I should have it before then. I'll test it for throttling and the iPhone USB sync issue.

Just placed an order for the M17x R2 and surprised to see Nero 9 Media Burning software in addition to McAfee virusscan. I thought the Alienware folks prided themselves on shipping their gear with no junk.

Good advice. That is exactly what I plan to do. For what it is worth, I have found this site to be the best source of information about notebooks and especially Alienware gear. My hat is off to all the regulars that contribute so much value to these discussions.
