    Greetings,

Found a couple of heat vapor chamber on Aliexpress, most of them them are 70x70mm^2, and 3mm in thickness.

If I drill through the vapor chamber for the screw locations (assuming this wont damage the vapor chamber somehow) and at the same time I fill the gab between the chamber and the CPU copper plate?

I think the thickness of the chamber is what holding the potential of this mod; any insight would be appreciated as Im willingly to test it on my Area51m.

    Best Regards

If you drill the vapor chamber it will be rendered useless, because its filled with gas..

Man, did I not tag you in the original post? Shame on me! Here's the write up, it basically dropped temps by 11c when compared to my custom 4.37mm BartX IHS.
@ole!!! had this idea about doing a direct die to vapor chamber mod, and it fits like a glove into the P870 chassis.

For some reason I didnt get any notification for replies, Anyways I plan to get two plates and stick them on top of CPU, and GPU main copper plate from the outside. Meaning the heat sink will be modified externally, this can vastly damp thermal spikes, any user can notice this when he launches a benchmark and the fan takes a while to kick in (since it doesnt react fast for thermal spikes) and also may help conduct additional heat and on top of that I can get any thickness of vapor plate.

I could only find aluminum, wish I can get hold of copper plates as thick as 5mm.

So the configuration goes like this

CPU ---> Copper Plate (original from Alienware) ---> Vapor chamber (one end) ---> Heat pipes near the fans.

will keep you updated and Im placing an order soon.

5.5x5.5 cm is quite large, it can block screw holes location. I thought of it, good effort however.

Thanks Homer, no need for drilling now ;)

My take was to have the vapor chamber mounted direct die to the 9900KF whilst connected to a remote condenser on top.

    I ordered one as well.
What is your experience with it so far? Is it better than stock cooling?

    Cheers
