Hi, I got my M15X last tuesday and the first thing i noticed was it had around 90 background processes running since start-up.

Does everyone else also have around 90 processes, is not, which processes should I remove?

Also, after playing dragon age for about 2-3 hours, the frame rates start to drop quite noticably. Can this be due to over-heating?

    My specs are:
    i7 820
    260m nvidia
    6gb 1333 ram
    dvd drive
    1900 x 1200
128gb SSD (The start up take almost 1min from the moment I press the power button to the time the camera recoognizes my face and logs in)

I've been reading that most people with SSDs take less that 30s to boot their com, so i'm kinda disappointed with the M15X. Maybe i was just expecting too much.

Thanks in advance for any helpful replies :)

Which brand SSD do you have? I just ordered a Kingston SSDNow SSD drive for my M15x, and I wouldn't expect it to perform nearly as well as the stock Samsung SSD or the Intel X25-Ms.

Have you experienced increasing lag with any other games or applications? I've heard that there may be a problem with a Dragon Age memory leak and that it is currently being looked into by Bioware. You can get more info on their forums.

I've gotta state the obvious here. Have you checked that stealth mode is off? Have you set Windows power management to Maximum Performance? Have you checked to see if perhaps the light on the power supply connector is flickering in and out, indicating a faulty power supply kicking you onto batteries?

I'm sure you've already checked off all these items, but just incase...

kev- I'm using the SSD that came with the alienware. I think it should be Samsung SSD.

quazai- I havent bought any other games for my M15X as i had hoped to spend a great deal of time completing Dragon Age.

froogle- Yep. Checked it for both since the first day after reading the forums for about a month.

Do all you guys also have around 90 processes running in the background? The only thing I installed is Dragon Age, Skype and Windows Live Messanger, other than that the programs are untouched. Thanks for the helpful replies.

My notebook came with Windows 7 Professional pre-installed. Should i reformat my computer?

Does everyone else have as many processes as me running in the background? Thanks for any helpful replies.

No, I don't have that many processes running. Right now, with IE loaded up (which generates about 3 processes) and a writing tool I'm using, and Outlook - I have 74 processes running.

Damn, do you guys think there is something wrong with my M15X?
With dragon age, msn, skype and IE, I have 94 processes running.

nickbarbs- My com takes around 1min even with the 128gb SSD from alienware. :(
