Hi guys, after advice i upgraded my graphics driver to the 177.92. They work great and whilst playing Bioshock for 2 hours, i got 60+ FPS and no higher then 77 - 80 DegC, 10 DegC lower than the stock drivers and the best part, DVD's work fine (",)

Thank you Nvidia/Laptopvideo2go these are great.

My advice for all m17x owners using 8800GTX's running Sli is upgrade...

Just my 2p of course (",)

Wonder what they might do for M1730's... BTW 80C IMHO wouldn't be considered that low a temp, still a little high. (I know some say anything less than 90C is OK... but I dunno about this)

i'd suggest checking your clocks mate, the same happened to me. but 15 degrees drop, used rivatuner and my clocks were something around 200mhz XD because 60+FPS sounds questionably for your SLI 8800GTX. you should be getting like 10 FPS more minimum.

80C is GREAT. Most people recommend under 95C and currently the Asus 15" laptop is heating up to around 105-110 C :( with the 8600GT. So 80 is nothing to worry about at all.

Thanks Stone, I have no lag at all but, should my FPS be higher than 60... I have Sli enabled but, to be honest i have no lag at all...

    OB

Update - this driver installs the PhysX software and enables it too, might explain the 60 FPS...

    Just a thought?

Make sure any Vertical Sync option is turned off in the game. That limits you to 60fps.

He'll prob need VSync on due to his SLI setup....there's just too much screen tearing in an SLI setup. Our GPU's are just too quick for the lcd's 60hz.

Update :- Playing Bioshock with VSync Off, 97 high and 93 low FPS...

Processor 95 DegC, GPU 77 High and 74 Low...

    Seems to be working fine.

After 5 mins of not playing the temps drop fast back to idle of around 68 for the GPU and 55 for CPU

Your GPU temps are awesome as Stone noted, nothing to worry about at all.

The CPU is high though, that is if the 95*C reading is accurate. Download HWMonitor and see what it says:

Yeah, thanks guys, I think i've read the FPS graph as the CPU... It wasn't that hot when i put my hand at the back next to the vents.

I used HWMonitor but it had started to cool down...

I'll just have to play some more of Bioshock and monitor the temps again but, so far no problems and I guess more inportantly, No downclocking or slowing down of any kind.

    I'll keep you posted.

    OB,
i use hardware monitor and my CPU temps never have gone beyond 60c. After installing the 177.92 drivers my GPU temps still in the high 80's when game playing. Did not notice a drop in temps. from stock drivers like you did but games play better.

Strange that i did then eh?

I'm sure i was quoting the wrong graph for CPU temps, the fans were working fine and never let it get hot so...

I'll have to to try again tonight lol

Update :- Good news Sunday 7th September I played Bioshock from the start (found out the camera gives you extras lol) and was playing for about 6 hours strtaight.

When I looked at the temps from the Rivatune graph, GPU 77 - 81 DegC, CPU45 - 51 DegC. I get 55 - 68 FPS which is lower than before the update to 192 but, no lag or anything and i'm playing at 1920... (",)

Seems the m17x is one Cool notebook...

    Hi,

I have the 2.8 "Extreme" processor... Seems to be fine with my machine, even with you having two 8800GTX's you;ll not have problems with heat, i'm sure.

BTW I'm also running 2 x 250Gb HDD's in Raid 0 both @7200... also no heat problems, seems the cooling system, works really well eh?
