The 178.13 drivers are now available from laptopvideo2go. Anyone try them yet? Specifically people with similar specs (8800M GTX). I'll try them out when I wake up.
-
Will be sure to try 'em as soon as I get home. thx for the info.
-
I'll hold off on it for now until some benchmarks comes out.
-
Just got it, First thing I noticed is that there is new clock speeds down steps when in Idle. I will get some benchmarks later.
-
Ok ran 3dmark 06 and HDR/SM3.0 was the same as the 177.98, but the SM2.0 went up 62 points. Overall the score went up 65points.
Not a significant improvement in performance. But 4 down clock stops compared to the 177.98's 3 -
i wonder why it's got more clock stops... you'd think three would do just fine.
how's the performance in games? any notable difference? -
No, it is the same. It dose run 5C cooler at idle was 45C now 40C.
-
Just updated myself and am experiencing the same things dwend is.
-
I do happen to have some smoother gameplay or it might just be attributed to the placebo effect. However, other people are reporting same 3dmark 06 score but better gameplay.
-
I don't really notice gameplay improvement 'cause all I'm playing right now is DOTA and The Witcher, which my specs already max out at 1920x1200.
-
Site gives me 404 or timeouts while downloading the driver... can anyone share that with me ? cant wait to test it out.
EDIT: no worries... got it. -
I found 177.98 giving better results in 3dmark 06
I have it running on 1440x900 native resolution with 8700M GT
-
im not that experienced with the whole driver thing, should i also get the modded INF and install that or just the new drivers?
-
Arvie... Welcome to NBR!
I would say if you have your driver working fine and you are not facing any problems then stick to your old version for now. I do not see anyone reporting major improvements with this driver. as they say it... why fix it if it's ain't broken! -
Should you choose to try it, and no harm really as you can just uninstall and reinstall, you download both. Extract the driver files somewhere then drag the modified .inf into the folder you extracted it to and overwrite it. Then you should be able to run setup without encountering compatibility errors.
-
thanks for the warm welcome
Il give the drivers a try, and im prety sure the saying "why fix if it aint broken" doesnt apply to us computing perfectionists
-
I installed it for my 8700M GT... fixed some "Digital Vibrance" issues I was having.
I'm a pretty happy camper. -
wow ok, my 3dmark06 score dropped from about 10,050 to around 9550. have yet to try the new drivers with any games though.
somewhat unrelated, anyone know how to enable the fps indicator in CS:S so i can test the drivers? -
-
-
i switched back to old driver as i felt more glitches with crysis on high setting... I always had them with high settings but not that much.. they are easily noticeable now
-
-
Does anyone know if these still downclock in xp? I am still using the stock release drivers for xp because every version I try keeps my gpu running at half speed.
-
could someone post a link for the 8800m gtx?
