Hi guys, as i'm sure you know, a few days ago Alienware released a new driver for Nvidia GPU's.

This was the 178.13 (previous version was 176.10)

Then I found that a revision had been released, 178.15 so i thought i'd test it out.

I now have the 178.5 driver installed. It installed with no problems using safe mode after uninstalling the existing drivers and running Driver Sweeper and CCleaner.

Sli mode is running and forced into mode 2 as per Stone's very helpful guide.

The best news is that after waiting for ages, the guys at Alienware CS, with the much appreciated help or Alienware-James, sent me a CD with the full 7.3 BD edition of PowerDVD, which I installed and updated to the lstest version, prior to this driver update.

Before installing these new drivers I played Transformers on Blu-Ray, so I used this as my test for the updated drivers...

    The results are in.....

    In no particular order...

    I have Blu-Ray playback using 178.15 (",)

I have not performed any game test yet but, when I do I will report back.

For now It's a sucessful install and fully working m17x that i'm typing this on now.

I don't think your board name is so much appropriate, it seems too similar to your other board about this driver... but you come bearing good news. So, I forgive you.

Oh, it was 17 8, haha. Anyone know what actually gets better performance for a single 8800M GTX then? 178.15 or 179.13?

I'm sorry... couldn't think of a better name, I was kinda rushing to write the good news and see what a blu-ray movie was like.

    It's awsome (",)

For a single 8800GTX i'd choose the 179.13, purely for performance, the 178 series are for Sli mostly I think (",)

Did you mean 179.13? :p If so, then yeah I suppose I'll stick with it then.
