I had a HDD problem november. Send it in, took 2 days very fast. They told me it would take 2 weeks to repair and send it back. After 3 weeks i call and ask when it will be back. They say it will be back 3 or 4 december. 5 december....nothing so i call again. They say the system had another problem: 1 of the GPU (gtx 260) is damaged and they have to repair it but the part is out of stock. A week later i call back and no change so i ask to replace them with ATI's and i am willing to pay them for it. They say they can't do that because it is in for a repair. now it has been about 2 months and i will call them again to see what's up. Anyone with some advise to help me out?

You need to be screaming your head off !
Make them earn that minimum wage ! I know I make it -
Call your bank or credit card, ask for a charge back, dispute it as merchant dispute if they cant' get their act together.
After you get your money back you order a new one.
That is unacceptable! -
They should of offered you at least a upgrade to a higher gpu.
-
Be nice at first the respond better but if they don't budge get mad usually if u get mad and request some one else or a higher up they grant it.
Use formal things like tgreating the bbb And tell them you filing duit with the credit card company -
dude, shouldn't send your laptop man, should have just send them your HDD.

If this is taking nearly 2 months to fix then this is unacceptable.
But yes, if they are still giving you the same answer and still waiting for parts ask the be escalated to a supervisor and go from there. If they are also not able to assist, tell them you will be filing a dispute with your bank for a charge back.
I usually use American Express for all my major purchases, since their warranty is the best, also they have extended warranty too.
But any credit card companies should be able to assist you with this matter.
Tell them that you sent your laptop for repair and its been two months and they are giving your the run around.
Most of the times your bank will give you your money back by doing a simple charge back. -
Couldn't this all be avoided if you just payed extra for the in home repair service?
-
congrats "student" you have earned the rank of troll. That has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with this. he shouldn't have had to pay for in-home service (and if they didn't have the part he'd still be screwed) to get service at all.
-
I agree, lets not be jerks about this, nothing worse to deal with such an issue like this, especially when the man had to shell out so much for a fine laptop.
He should be able to get A+ service, not D- service. -
Ask for your money back or a totally new laptop.
I would not even wait 1 month for them to repair mine.
This is madness! Hope you get it sorted dude. -

I have inhome service but when they realised that there where multiple problems we both decided that it was maybe better to do a full check and repair everything. Since they told me it was only 10 working days i agreed to it. but untill now ive been dealing with dutch people today i called somebody from xps 24/7 team and he gave me the number for englisch reps in belgium. lets see what gives. I always try the nice way first but i do expect something as a compensation.

I just called dell today and explained the situation again. They agreed to replace my sli gtx 260m with crossfire ati 4870. This shouldve been decided a month ago smart as they are. So i will still send a complaint letter to dell explaining everything. Im curious to see what they will respond.

I'm glad that they are taking care of you finally!
Enjoy it!

That would be a relieve yes. Still can't believe i had this much patience before sticking it to them. They better not scratch it RRRRRRRRRR and give me my diagnostic cd back.
-
I'd call every day or every other day and politely ask for a status update. See if the daily updates you get make sense with what you've been told the day before. Don't wait around. Squeaky wheel gets the grease.

Hey sagermeister. I see in your sig you've got one of those oven baked GPu's
Next time they come fix it at home or they send a replacement. no less... -
Yes, baked to a crackly crunch! Couldn't believed that worked (and the card is still working 7 weeks later).
I think the fix it at home or send a replacement policy is a good one. Hopefuly there won't be any more problems for you after this one gets ironed out. -
I wouldn't even wait more than 2 weeks for repair. They can build a new one in days, why can't replace parts in 2 weeks. If they don't have the part, they should know in the first week, and an upgrade should be in process.
2 months repair....desperate
