i was gonna start this thread with only one simple(hopefully) problem, which is that the microphone on my m15x seems to have dissapeared. only thing showing up in playback devices is "microphone, high definition audio device,, unplugged" which is strange, as its inbuilt lol. any ideas anyone?

so problem number 2, which arose in my attempt to tell you all about problem number 1. whenever i try to open this website on my m15x, IE crashes!! so im now on my desktop, because it just wont open on my laptop???

    many thanks in advance

Well, for problem 2, just switch to Google Chrome or Firefox. ;)

Yes, use Firefox, Chrome, or Opera. For the other problem, did you right-click and check both Show Disabled Devices and Show Disconnected Devices? Assuming this is Vista...

look under the m15x sticky thread. there is a step by step for installing certain drivers. you have to install in a certain order for some reason.
if that does not work, call roswell.

since you're not the OP, I don't know anything about your specific issue other than it has a vague similarity to the OP's issue. please give specifics about your case: eg. Device manager? is the digital mic in there? etc etc not disabled, etc etc. what does the Realtek HD audio manager have to say? etc.

I have the high definition Audio Device in Device Manager but only the unplugged Microphone in recording devices.

Edit - I just reinstalled the sound drivers of the Alienware site and it fixed it
