I have the BIOS and the Nbitor
now when i flash i should be in Hybrid SLI so if it doesn't work I will still have the 9400m correct?
I am just worried i wont be able to boot in to the 9400m
-
-
which Nbitor version works?
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
I am not the person to ask about this haha, I avoid flashing vbios. I know that Dondadah88 has flashed his 9800m GTX BIOS many a time, should be same procedure so I'd ask him.
I am interested to see how this works and really hope that it doesn't kill your card. Thanks for being the guinea pig. -
Megacharge Custom User Title
Its not going to kill his card, and if there is a problem it is reversible, as long as he can boot up with his 9400M it should be easy.
-
problem Nbitor doesn't work very well with the bios ....:
-
Oh I can not wait till I get my laptop in 0.o. Then I'll be right there with you flashing GPUs. Good luck man! I look forward to having you being the guinea pig!
-
Awesome Moo I really hope it works for you. I am getting mine next Wednesday, 260 SLI. Would you guys recommend flashing them at the same time or one at a time?

FOR SINGLE CARDS ONLY
in the second post soviet made a guide on how to flash it. (don't follow the clocks.)
SLI IS A DIFFERENT FLASH SETTINGS SOVIET POINTED THIS OUT TO ME LATER IN THIS THREAD.
just post if you have any more questions. -
Good info ^^^^^ ,now if only Wednesday can come any faster
-
Does anyone have a very detailed spec list for the 260 and 280? I mean like voltages, etc.
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
it owuld be the same as mine
maybe they tweaked the other ones for lower voltaged. i did. -
If you get the chance to change the name of the cards I want some recognition!
-
What is the "Extra" category? If it's full power shouldn't it be the same thing as 3D?
Oh, and THANKS don! -

Stupid dondadah88. The method I showed you is only for flashing single GPU notebooks. SLi notebooks need a different command in nvFlash.
First, use the command nvflash -a to see the list of cards that nvFlash can see. Them proceed with the two following commands.
"nvflash -4 -5 -6 -A -y -i0 G92M.rom"
"nvflash -4 -5 -6 -A -y -i1 G92M.rom"
The -ix selects which card to flash. -
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
Lol. i only have a single card and so does the moo. when i get sli now i know what to do(even though i thought it was the same lol).

Soviet Sunrise Notebook Prophet
You're not the one I'm talking about. Prodigy-man has an M17x coming soon and he is gearing up to flash for his first time. I'm trying to prevent any mess ups for SLi users reading this thread, and potentialy you and The_Moo™ in the future as you only knew how to flash single cards before I posted. I'm just trying to save your hide from SLi users complaining that they can only flash one of their cards.
I swear to god, the IQ of the Alienware forum has been going down the drain lately. -
Actually MOO have 2 cards
Hybrid SLI is SLI after all -
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
ok i'll edit my first post alittle bit.
-
All the insults and crap are gonna get you out of here. Why don't you just post the info and move on?
Is it that time of the month for you? -
I try this with my 280 and nibitor comes up with an unknown bios and some real goofy clock speeds. My core speed was in Terahertz, I really wish it was but something wrong. If you get it to work moo post up a DIY or something to that extent.

Change the ID for your GTX 280M to a 9800M GTX and select rescan BIOS in the Adv. Info tab. NiBiTor will be able to read your card properly after that. Make sure you change it back to the GTX 280M ID before you save the BIOS.
-
Sorry for being the slow one here, but Moo, you are going to flash the GTX 260M with the 280 Bios right?
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
no i don't think so. i think he just wants higher voltage.
-
I gave him my 280 bios that's why I wanted credit.
-
any recommendations on how I go about starting to overclock my SLI 260Ms? what ratios should the core/memory/shader be and what increments to increase them by.

Thx for the SLI info Soviet Sunrise. Would anyone be able to send me 280m GTX bios images to me?
-
-
Nbitor says the card isn't supported
Which is what im trying to say Don
I have to use NVflash -
Mandrake i need you to save it AS A .ROM
-
will do.
10 char -
It won't let me save as anything else but a bin. I did go ahead and rename it.

-
NVflash says it cannot open the ROM file ???
-
Don went to work. Need Soviet to come here.
-
You have to force flash it in DOS
-
ok i have the USB drive set up i created a folder did it exactly like Z said ....
The GPU bios won't try to flash my MOBO right? Sorry never done this .... -
I've never done this procedure but when flashing you should be specifying a device to flash.
-
Yeah, nvflash will not touch your motherboard's BIOS. lol
-
OK it threw up a BUNCH of errors
BIOS didn't match
PCI subsystems didn't match
Subsystem ID's don't match
It started to flash but i guess the values in the subsystem didn't match (figured)
Any way any one let me what i need to do now ?
Internet is down -
You can bypass the checking part by using -5 -6
eg nvflash.exe -5 -6 Bios1.rom
These errors shouldn't worry you too much, I used to get the same ones on my m1730 and I still get the same errors on the 280m on the m17x (using original bios) -
ok i ran it with -5 -6
and now it says the board id's don't match ?????
They do i checked it in Nbitor but nvflash won't flash with it like that
Any more ideas? -
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
unless it's trying to flash your 9400m. disable that. then since you have a single gpu
nvflash -6 -5 -4 -Y -a ????.rom if not then
nvflash -6 -5 -4 -A -y ????.rom -
but the boards are the same ... no im not flashing the 9400m
-
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
did you try it in the order i posted. i did -4 -5 -6 -y -a and it didn't work. i have to do it . like it says so it can bypass everything.
-
hummm
i think i forgot the jump drive ...
i just came back to my grandparents cuz my Grandpa is having surgrey ...lemme look for the jump drive -
Soviet Sunrise Notebook Prophet
Okay, TL;DR. I spent the day wiping my hard drive and loading a fresh copy of Seven build 7264, so forgive me for my absence. Have you all saved the device ID in the BIOS correctly as 060A? I think I have mentioned it in my post back on page three.
-
you mean the bios name ? (never flashed before...)
sorrry
Yes the 280 BIOS is named 060A.ROM
only error i have left is the board error .... but i don't have my jump drive to flash now.
260m GTX flashing thread (need some people :p )
