What are the major differences between the 260m and the 280m's?

Could somebody please post some stats and some Benchies if possible?

    Thanks in Advance!

no dont trust that website. it isn't updated and completey wrong.
how are they going to put a single 280 vs a 9800m gt sli, GeForce 9800M GTS SLI, Mobility Radeon HD 3870 X2(this was proven wrong so i don't know why that's up there. a heavily overclocked 280m is equally to 38702 stock), GeForce 8800M GTX SLI, Mobility Radeon HD 3850 X2,(i'm not sure because i have yet to see a computer with this.)

the the 280m vs the 260m stock is about 10 percent difference.

performance and heat. since the 280m is proven to work, might as well go for the BFG ;)

It's definitely not 100% accurate and I'm no expert, but I'm not just going off of the list order they have on the side there. That can be a bit deceiving because I'm not sure what results they base that order on (an avg of different benchmarks maybe? Cuz looking in order of 3D Mark 01 it gets waay off). I use the site to check base stats of the cards as well as different benchmark results.

For instance the 9800m GTS SLI is listed below the GTX 280m, but has a higher 3D Mark 06 score (same with the 3850 x2 and 3870 x2 and really everything you mentioned besides the 8800gtx SLI). Also, they do have and exclaimer on most of the cards showing what kind of system they tested it on and warning that performance my change depending on the rest of the system (duh, but nice they mention it).

Anyways it's what I use for now. If something doesn't make sense, look into it more - could very well be an error, but for the most part I'd still say it's a good site. Anyone have a better one?

    112 vs 128 shaders

Overclocked clocks will be about the same. So what it comes down to is:

A: do you want a top benchmarking machine?
B: are you just a gamer and wouldn't mind saving $300?

Thanks didymus03, great info there and thanks to the rest. So unless you're an "enthusiast benchmarker" the 260's should handle "most" games quite well...

    Cheers!
