    which one is better? i saw the benchmarks and both cards seem on par. i'm a noob at this, so maybe i'm wrong?

    also another question. does the 285m work with the m15x?

    I'd say 285 and 4870 are on par. 5870 has a clear lead.

    yes in somes games the gt285 is better in others games the 4870 is better but the 5870 is better everytimes

    The 5870 is better. It's faster and the technology used it is at least two generations newer than the GTX 285M (based on the same design as the GeForce 9800, not the desktop GTX28x series).
