    I just traded a friend my macbook pro for his alienware m15x and was wondering with all the issues it seems like your having, what happens if i have issues? will alienware still cover the laptop? can i buy a new warranty if they dont? can i buy a new name plate? also, he has the ripley design, can i change it to skullcap? thanks in advance :D

    If you have any issues, you are out of support.
    Alienware does not transfer warranty. I doubt that you can purchase a new warranty. Name plate might not be a big issue but it should be your friend asking for a new name plate with a different name. No they do not have replaceable designs... I had suggested them to give an option like Dell Studio laptops

    since you got the alienware from your friend im sure he still has the original warranty. just pay him to extend it for you if you need to. if you need to get warranty service just have him call and make sure to use his address.

    As far as repairs (i.e cracked hinges) can i pay for alienware to fix it? and are you sure there is no way to put a new cover on the back (skullcap) even if i send it in to them :confused:

    since you are not the original owner, AW won't repair it or sell you parts even you are willing to pay for extra. they won't even talk to you as soon as they find out you are the 2nd owner.

    Anyway - about the case thing, they do offer a case upgrade ( I emailed them a few weeks back about this):

    "In regard to your inquiry, it will be around 100.00 GBP plus shipping, handling, and an amount for labor. Please note that this is only an estimate and that we are currently not offering this option.
    "

    You need to verify all the details... ask him to change the postal address to yours by giving a ring and without telling that who is who. then just play the blind game, and never let them know you are you :)
