Hi, I was browsing the Dell Outlet Alienwares and noticed that many of them say they come with 32 bit windows, even when they have 8gbs of ram. That makes no sense to me. Can anyone explain?

Alienwares and Dell's consumer line should all be 64 bit minus Windows Starter and netbooks. Dell's Business line should be 64 bit for brand new, alot of Outlet models are 32 bit though.

The specs list a 32 bit version of the Windows 7 DVD.

The software probably lists something similar to the following (pulled from the first M14x I saw):
Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 32-Bit Operating System DVD
Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit Operating System DVD
    64BIT Operating System

or this (from the first M11x I saw):
Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 32-Bit Operating System DVD

The Alienware systems from the Dell Outlet do not come with a 32 bit version of Windows 7 installed. They all have the 64 bit version installed.

Probably a misprint, especially for 8GB of RAM. There's no reason for them to be using 32-bit Win 7.

My refurb said it was coming with 32 bit, and I was all prepared to install 64 bit, but it came with 64 bit and even the 64bit dvd. I was happy that it seemed to be a misprint :)

Closing thread - as others have mentioned, ALL AW systems are shipped with Windows 7 64-bit. Support will not assist you if running a 32-bit OS... its a typo.
