4850 gpuz bios thing (ongoing problem)

hi all i know im going on about these flippin cards but ive been looking do you think its worth flash as i think somethings wrong

number 1 card picture is the good one i was gonna try and flash as the bios is the same but if you look at the memory i should have 800mhz i got something like 6394mhz and other stuff is odd as well what do you lot think

p.s thanks for any help.... also if dhc see or mandrake or any others that have 4850s i was wondering if you could give me a copy of you 4850s bios please master and slave

its gpu z and theirs a folder on the right side of where the bios is , have a look at the pic you can see small box

It's actually OK. I'll post the bios in a little bit.

On a side note I tried duplicating the issue and unfortunately I duplicated it too well. Don't know if this is a common bug or a coincidence. If I don't get it back working by Monday I'm calling AW myself.

 

Here is the bios for the 4850s. Remove the ".txt".

I did try reflashing mine and it made no difference.

 

what have you done to reproduce the issue?

 

I reinstalled the OS without the Crossfire cable. I was planning on doing a reinstall anyway but I didn't think it was going to hose it up.

 

Event viewer is saying "atikmdag CPLIB :: General - Invalid Parameter". Seems to be a generic error. I've tried reinstalling the OS (Vista and Win 7), changing drivers, flashing the cards, reseating the cards and nothing has worked yet.

yep ive tried mostly everything but update the bios for the laptop im running b10, i dont know if ive ballsed up something in that.

 

I run B10 also, so it shouldnt be the bios

 

mm i know im cluthcing at straws as i cannot see how updating driver has brocken my slave card or my slave card slot.

 

dhc what pci bus are your cards in mine are 6 and 3

Seems a bit goofed up. The Bios I posted was extracted when I first received the machine. I'm going to re-extract and see if the info is really screwed up.

 

its weird its saying exact same thing as mine

 

Makes me think it's a bug then.

I re-extracted the bios and it looks fine. I'm going to change the clocks slightly to see if it takes.

Edit: Made no difference. I like the 512 bit bus and 4GB of memory, lol.

Edit2: I'm starting to think GPUz is screwed up because of the driver not loading. Need to get that working first.

right got me stumped
1 reinstalled win 7
2 reinstalled vista
3 installed / delteted/ removed / added all sorts of drivers
4 even installed new b14 bios to m17

not sure how this has happend

 

I took apart my system, cleaned contacts, removed the crossfire cable again and now it loaded. This is odd.

Edit: It ran like crap. I'm going to do some more testing.

 

just saying as i got it to see both cards working at the beging of this saga but when i tried to run vantage it froze about 1 min into the program and the only thing i could do was reboot.

 

Well I disabled the slave and it still ran like crap. I then disabled the Master and it BSOD. Something is still wrong obviously.

Things got worse on this side. Video is screwed up even outside of Windows. I'm going to pull the slave card now.

 

Change your power settings to maximize battery life and see if it loads.

 

have you got the sponge type heatpads on the memory ?

i even took that of incase it was messing with the board

trouble is as soon as i install new driver as this one is code 10 it just goes black screen nothing happens.

nope sorry i did pull the cards and i tried the slave card in the master slot but it would not even boot into cmos.

just tried again with power settings and no joy either

you want me to try with just master card in and actaully take the slave card out.

i might put it in the freezer tonight then ( old myths ) lol

 

right mandrake i got slave card to work but the master is not playing ball now
pci 3 is showing as ok but pci 6 is not working now

 

I"m convinced my cards are hosed. I'm trying the 3870s now to see if the system is hosed.

yep pci 3 works now but pci 6 not working ..... im sure pci 6 was my master before and pci 3 was my slave

OK, 3870s loaded fine and now I'm running Vanatge. What GPU score is acceptable for the 3870s?

 

not sure about 5.5k i think

 

I scored 6.7K so I'm assuming the 3870s and the system is fine. I'll do more stress testing later. Now to see if I can exchange the 4850s.

 

least lappy is fine its a gpu problem

i was messing with drivers becuase for love no money i couldnt get to 9.12 so i was changing everything

and now ive ballsed summet up but im not sure what
