hi all im having this problem and i wonder if any of you have come across this

2 4850s i was trying to update drivers and ballsed my windows up.

it would not start second card.
when it did i got frezing in games and had to reboot

so i installed windows 7 ultimate again
i get code 10 the second card cannot start
    i install win 7 4850 drivers of a/w
    loads finds second card woohooo
    sytem has to reboot
but when it does it freezes on the windows icon wouldnt go into windows
so i do a fix and it removes a/w drivers and second card is again code 10 has a problem wont start.

    this is where im at

    any ideas?

sounds like a hardware problem. remove your the back panel and check if your video card is burned out. but first you will need to remove your GPU fan.

Yep, check and clean the fans/vents/cards, check the card for burned dust, reseat the cards/CF cable, - try again.

I had the same problem untill i installed the drivers properly.
Again, it is not a hardware issue.

    Oh fyi:

Error 10 is caused by missing system files or broken system registry structures. This is a critical sign of an unstable system that is typically caused by improper maintenance of the computer.

    http://simple-pc-help.com/support/error_10.html?t202id=8844&t202kw=10 error&gclid=CIK9sKeI7ZgCFRVJtAodCwey0g

    Hope you get it fixed!

    Happy new year!

Yeah but code 10, is still code 10, new install or not.

Try the tool and see if it helps you (i never tried it so i can't say it will work).

does it need the crossfire cable connected for it to start as ive pulled the cable of as i thought it should still see the card which it does and at least start it.

i wish i did mandrake at least i could put the card in and see what the problem was...

you need the CFX cable to run crossfire or use your slave

how ever you can bot on the master only without the CFX cable

I had the same problem with my 3870s back when I re-installed the os. I installed the original drivers that came with the laptop and all was well.

I also had to remove the ATI drivers from windows update since MS kept trying to install them and mess up my setup

you might be onto something as im getting reports that somehow sometimes windows 7 isnt enabling the second card ...ocz have even said win7 hasnt got crossfire support for notebooks yet?

yet mine did work untill i tried to update and install different drivers

im going back to vista later to see if the card is ok ( i hope so)

window7 is really sneaky with it's gpu driver it keep installing it in your back after you uninstaled it if you don't tell it not to do so
