Someone needs to find the owner of dell's kid and convince the kid to bug his parents for the upgrade :D.

Well, I think the problem is that marketing *thinks* it can sell an existing customer a $3000 laptop every year or every other year instead of going the upgrade route and maybe getting another $500-1000 from a pre-existing customer. If I was given an option to upgrade to a higher video card down the road (8800GTX at the time), I would have gladly paid for it. Instead, I will most likely not buy an m17 or the new m17x and get the NEXT upcomming laptop next year.

At least with Sager, they do what they can to accomodate current customers and give them at least one additional upgrade before releasing the next model. The D901C motherboard upgrade option to allow for 8800s and up in SLi to work comes to mind as well as the m860TU now giving the uption to upgrade to Quad Core and a 260 vid card.
