    As the title says.

Does anyone know if the secondary card is available for order with xfire cable and what the part # is?

Upgrade kit will become available in a month or so.

Good timing dude! :) I ordered an M17x last week when only single 5870 was an option. Could cancel but I'll probably upgrade later instead.

not sure whether it's a good timing. just can not wait any longer. 5 months waiting already. As we find the new bios for M15x contain info about 940 cpu, probably we will see 740 840 and 940 very soon.

Not sure if its available to order but i think the product code is the same as the part number which is -

    1GB GDDR5 ATI Mobility Radeon(TM) HD 5870 - NRTT8

    CrossFireX(TM) Dual 1GB GDDR5 ATI Mobility Radeon(TM) HD 5870 - P1RPJ

You should probably ask your dell rep if you can order a second one...

Better to buy a Intel 160GB G2 SSD. Better then samsungs and probably cheap. They go for around 550 AUS on ebay.

When i order my M17x it'll come to about $4,073.00

That wont happen for atleast a month or so.

Do not buy SSD from DELL. buy an Intel SSD in the market and replace by yourself.

So what's the difference between the "upgrade kit" and the 5870CF cards you guys are talking about? I have never dealt with a Dell AU rep before (my system was bought from an online Dell reseller) so if I want OEM cards/upgrade kit delivered to my PO box what should I do (I live on uni campus so no physical address)?. Thanks guys

I agree with Ikuto & Ceshimm - it may be a better option to buy an SSD yourself. At least you will have choice of brand and can shop around. I will be buying an Intel SSD myself once I've received my m17x (ordered today also). If you're scared of opening your laptop, there's the Service Manual you can refer to and I also believe if you hunt around there are videos in the forum (and possibly on YouTube as well) that show you what to do - should you change your mind and are keen to give it a go.

GMLP, I have no idea if Dell would ship to a PO Box - you might want to get in touch with someone in admin at the campus and ask them how you'd have something delivered to you. Perhaps they have a service you can use. Alternatively, you can check at your local Post Office and ask them and confirm with Dell that they can deliver to it.

The 'upgrade kit' that some people are referring to is just being able to purchase CF5870's independently of a new system. I think it's a safe assumption that these kits will not be sold in the immediate future with stock currently going into new system orders. If you call Dell AU they should be able to direct your call to the appropriate area (or someone here may be able to advise a better contact point).
