I'm about to order Alienware M17x and I'm searching for a clear and concise answer for the following questions Help? :(

    1. 1440x900 vs 1920x1200 - is it worth the $150 upgrade?
Couple of replies I found were "It's just an extra resolution" and "First thing to upgrade is the screen".
Is it comparable to putting a 32" inch tv vs a 42" one?

    2. 250gb 7200 (single) vs 320gb 7200 (2x160gb RAID0) - Should I consider the 2drives option so I could get the hard drive caddy pre-installed?
I dont live in the US btw (relative is taking this laptop home).
Has anyone tried requesting for the extra HD caddy even if you opted for the single drive?

    3. Has anyone tried requesting if we could go 320gb (2x160gb 7200) but not in RAID0/1?
Just simple, normal, isolated hard drives living in peace?

    4. AW Orion Backpack - I believe someone mentioned $59 from newegg, but can they deliver outside the US and still be cheaper?

    5. Complete Care - worth it if outside US?
I'm asking this based on experience since Sony PH did not honor my PS3's warranty since it was bought in AUS. What a shame.

    6. How do I request for EPP discount?
Just mention it to the man-on-the-phone? Or does it have special requirements?

    1. I guess this is subjective but it's night and day for me. Get the higher res if you plan on watching Blu-Ray otherwise it will downscale.

    2. I asked for the hdd bracket and got it next day for free but I'm in the US.

    3. I don't know if they'll let you do that but phoning in the order would be the only way if they did.

    4. Newegg ships to a couple other countries beisdes the US but I don't remember which. You can also try amazon.com.

    5. Call and ask.

    6. When you call they'll ask which company you belong to thats part of EPP. If you want to lie beyond that it's up to you.

    1. I would say "no". Then again, I have 10% the average eyesight of a human, so...

    2. I'd get the single drive. It's not too hard to get a second caddy, and 160GB is too small for a single drive IMO. You'll be wondering where you put stuff, or something like that (has happened to me in the past)

    3. No, but a reinstall is no biggie. If it wasn't for the fact that Alienware loads almost no crapware on their computers, I'd advice you to do a reinstall when you get it anyway.

    4. I got mine from eBay for $67 total, though I'm in the US at the moment.

    5. Complete Care gives you nothing extra except accidental damage, so unless you're a complete tool (I'll go ahead and assume you're not. ;)) I wouldn't bother with it.

    6. From my experience the reps at the end of the phone will jump down your throat about signing up for it anyway, so I don't think you'll have to worry.

So how many people did you just call a complete tool? ;)

I have a 2 year old plus if there are any cosmetic issues that pop up I want to make sure it doesn't get pinned on me.

I wasn't aware accidental damage covered cosmetics. I assumed it was stuff that actually affected the machine's performance. If it is the case that it covers that sort of thing then it's a worth-while investment and I've been an idiot! :)

Accidental damage can be a god send if you happen to drop your machine down a flight of stairs or say in a bathtub(pray your not in it though) etc.

I read storys back in the day where a guy ran over his XPS with the car lol and it was replaced.
